The Accounting Team is responsible for understanding and telling Stripe's financial story and shaping our collective understanding of how Stripe is performing as a business. Our primary focus is maintaining a well-controlled environment that effectively supports corporate governance, financial reporting and disclosure requirements. We advise and enable Stripe to grow. We operate in a fast-paced environment and collaborate significantly with cross-functional and international teams.What you'll do
In this role you will lead aspects of Corporate Accounting, leveraging your technical expertise with US GAAP to quickly identify accounting and reporting implications and close the books accurately and timely. You will implement and maintain effective global corporate processes, including working across various Accounting subteams and cross-functional stakeholders to improve processes and support company initiatives. You'll elevate the ambitions of your team to deliver outstanding results.ResponsibilitiesLead, manage and develop the team to set and meet goals and continuously improve.Plan and review monthly and quarterly close activities, including journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, analytical reviews and financial reporting deliverablesDesign, implement, and maintain effective internal control constructsPartner with cross-functional teams including Financial Systems, Finance and Strategy, Treasury, Investor Relations, Tax, and Legal to design and operationalize accounting requirements of new business initiatives and transactionsIdentify, recommend and implement scalable accounting processes and automation improvements to support Stripe's global growth.Who you are

The preferred qualifications are a bonus, not a requirement.Minimum requirements10+ years of relevant public accounting and/or industry experienceB.A. or B.S. degree in Accounting and expertise in US GAAP (CPA strongly preferred)Experience with internal controls (design, implementation and execution)Excellent communication and organization skills, both written and verbalProven track record of implementing process improvements and leading teams.Detail-orientation with rigorous approach to delivering high-quality workEnthusiasm to get things done through a combination of hands on execution and leading othersAbility to influence across diverse groups and levels, including financial system engineering teams
