The Opportunity:
As a Software Engineer on the MLB Ballpark Services team, you will contribute to and maintain high-quality backend services and cloud infrastructure. You will be involved in writing clean, modular code in an agile environment, helping to support our CI/CD processes, and ensuring scalable, reliable microservices.
Essential Job Functions:Develop, monitor, and maintain a variety of microservices used by mobile applications and all 30 Baseball clubsMaintain and rewrite existing services from GoLang to KotlinLean into developing serverless solutions to reduce management overhead and operating costsDevelop solutions that leverage Firestore for real-time user interactionsManage, update, and maintain some areas of our cloud infrastructureDevelop front-end experiences that allow baseball clubs to manage interactions and experiences with our fansDevelop, monitor, and maintain services used to communicate with our fanbase. This includes push notifications, in-app messages, SMS notifications, and inbox messagingTake ownership of critical projects and your own initiativesParticipate in the full lifecycle of software development (requirements gathering, designing, developing, testing, deploying, operating, supporting and maintenance)Work closely with the Product management team to design new features integrated into the platformOwn portions of the backend architecture. You will be given the resources, support, and autonomy to drive solutionsWork closely with the Ballpark mobile and Access Control teams. The Ballpark application is currently the #1 App in sports in the App Store. You will work with the mobile team to create technical solutions that work across all platforms.Work directly with our partners, who are industry leaders in cloud and mobile softwareParticipate in an on-call rotation with other team membersParticipate in short-term planning of software projectsRequirements :
4+ years of software development experience in Java or Kotlin (preferred), with a focus on backend or full-stack development3+ years of cloud experience managing infrastructure like Kubernetes, Docker, Postgres, BigQuery, and various other componentsAbility to write public and private REST APIs in Java/KotlinProven experience building large and scalable applications using microservice design patternsWorking knowledge of Agile process, CI/CD & build automation tools, and SRE best practicesAPI design experienceGoogle Cloud Platform (GCP) expertise, specifically Kubernetes and related GCP tools for scalable infrastructureUnderstanding of best practices for event-driven design and scalingHands-on expertise with observability systems for monitoring, logging, and alertingPassionate about mentoring peer developers, providing code reviews, and helping your team solve difficult problemsPreferred Experience:
High-level understanding of GoLangFamiliarity with KTORKnowledge of Google Cloud Functions or other serverless architecturesExperience using DataDog for observabilityFront-end experience using VueJS to contribute to full-stack solutions as neededSalary Range is $120k-155K
