TORC Robotics
Senior Software Engineer, Perception Simulation Recompute
TORC Robotics, Ann Arbor, Michigan, us, 48113
About the Company
At Torc, we have always believed that autonomous vehicle technology will transform how we travel, move freight, and do business.
A leader in autonomous driving since 2007, Torc has spent over a decade commercializing our solutions with experienced partners. Now a part of the Daimler family, we are focused solely on developing software for automated trucks to transform how the world moves freight.
Join us and catapult your career with the company that helped pioneer autonomous technology, and the first AV software company with the vision to partner directly with a truck manufacturer.
Summary
Design, develop, integrate, test and validate perception simulation testing software using state-of-the-art recompute testing technology to support perception component development and testing of autonomy software for self-driving trucks. You will shape the future of our data for autonomous trucking by extensively contributing to our perception recompute testing pipeline. In this role, you will be responsible for applying state of the art approaches for Recompute testing in a scalable production setting, contribute to development and release testing, communicate with stakeholders in perception development, integration, infrastructure and verification testing which rely on our recompute simulation pipeline. You will be instrumental in growing the robustness and safety of our self-driving technology.
What you will be doing:Advance modern simulation recompute techniques for perception testing based on annotated real data and synthetic rendered dataDeliver key contributions to design, architecture and implementation of a recompute testing framework that allows to scale perception testingIntegrate the framework in a cloud environment and automate the pipeline to allow scaling for the target verification and validation of our autonomous trucksSupport log data replay and metrics development for perception software componentsIdentify testing gaps and derive requirements for new or improved test tools, perception simulation environments and test frameworksWhat you need to succeed:
BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Robotics Engineering, Systems Engineering, or engineering equivalent5+ years of software development experience2+ years of software systems integration and testing experienceStrong programming experience in C++ and using Python for data analysisWorking knowledge of ROS2 for autonomous SW development and simulationFull life cycle software development including unit and software integration testing and configuration managementWorking knowledge of Test-Driven Development Methodology and test framework architecturesExperiences with Software-in-the-Loop (SIL) simulation and testing methodologiesProficiency with programming under Linux and Linux command line functionsExperience reporting to product and quality management on testing progressTrack record of successfully building and shipping products or open-source projectsBonus Points!
Experience developing SW for autonomous driving functions, e.g. to solve perception, localization, behavior tasks for a self-driving vehicleExperience developing sensor models, 3D simulation environments, rendering and ray tracing in a perception simulation environment (i.e., game engine or other similar simulation environment)Software and system troubleshooting and problem-solving with specific focus on system-level analysis, fault isolation and identificationKanban, Scrum or Scaled Agile developmentTechnical leadership experience is a plusExperience with Bazel is a plusPerks of Being a Full-time Torc'r
