Description
Plans and directs departments operations to insure effective use of manpower and equipment in meeting production schedules and quality standards. Establishes job priorities. Determines availability of stock or parts. Inspects material and product for quality, investigates errors and correct problems.Insures that employees are provided with necessary tools, gauges, machine parts, trucks etc. Assigns and checks out setups. Investigates complaints of machine malfunctions, and obtains maintenance assistance as necessary.With Director of Operations, has joint responsibility in hiring, firing and upgrading. Responsible for training, discipline, safety and employee relations within departments. Implement Union Contract. Assigns overtime in accordance with Equalization of Overtime Policy. Identifies and notifies employees of layoffs or transfers. Orientates new employees to department.Controls and reduces costs to improve operations. Recommends and assists in implementing improved methods. Assists Industrial Engineering in time studies.Participates in budge preparation, analyzes expenses and acts to control and reduce costs through better utilization of labor and control of overtime, tooling, supplies, materials, scrap and rework.. Studies operations for process and methods improvement.Maintains production records and prepares reports as necessary.Interfaces with other departments (production control, purchasing, quality control, engineering, etc.) to meet production schedules.As necessary, communicates instructions between shifts and conducts housekeeping programs. Maintains a proper and safe work area. Insures that all employees adhere to safety regulations and wear prescribed safety gear.Maintains inventory accuracy via inventory transactions, cycle counts, etc.
Qualifications
Minimum five years as a lead person or supervisor in a manufacturing environment required. Must be self-motivated, well organized, detail oriented and efficient under pressure; Excellent leadership, communication, interpersonal, team building and problem solving skills;Solid technical and customer interface skills required
