SUMMARY :
The Watertown Public Schools seeks a skilled, dynamic speech-language pathologist with a growth mindset to join our team of educators at the Watertown Middle School. The current responsibilities include provision of evaluations, consultation, and direct speech services.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES : The essential functions or duties listed below are illustrations of the type of work that is performed and is not an exhaustive list of the duties performed for by this position. Consultation to teachers and staff regarding teaching students with communication disordersAdministration of speech and language evaluations and production of thorough evaluation reports including educationally relevant findings, student goals and recommendationsProvision of direct speech therapy services to students to address communication issues that are interfering with learningCompletion of screenings as requested through Student Intervention Team (SIT) processes and IEP Team processesParticipation as needed in SIT meetings and IEP team meetingsCompletion of relevant sections of IEPs and 504 plansCompletion of quarterly progress reportsDocumentation of services providedProvision of trainings for teachers, staff, and parents regarding the role of a speech language pathologist in an educational settingPromotion of equity and appreciation of diversity to ensure opportunities for student learning in the least restrictive environment, regardless of race, gender, gender identity, national origin, language, homelessness, or disabilityQUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Flexibility with respect to caseloads, age groups, and schedulingExperience as a speech language pathologist in a public school settingExperience assessing all school age childrenFamiliarity with evaluating students who are English Language Learners preferredASHA Certificate of Clinical Competency preferredEDUCATION/EXPERIENCE :
Master's DegreeCurrent Massachusetts DESE licensure as a speech language pathologistCurrent Massachusetts Board licensure as a speech language pathologist
SENSORY REQUIREMENTS:
Most tasks require visual perception and discrimination and the ability to distinguish color. The employee must be able to input information into a computer and as well as read material from a computer monitor as well as printed matter with or without visual aids. The employee must be able to communicate effectively other staff members in order to exchange accurate information.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The noise level in this environment is quiet to loud depending on the activity and the particular part of the day and location. The employee interacts with other staff members and occasionally must meet multiple demands from several people. The employee must be able to drive to the 8 schools within the district.
