1. General job duties. Types of procedures required. Types and ages of patients, number of rooms
Labor, delivery, postpartum and newborn care. Will float to med-surg to assist if OB unit is closed.
2. Equipment utilized in the unit/dept. (Is there computerized charting, medication systems, etc.) What equipment is attached to the clinic, x-ray, lab or do they have to send out for these? What hospitals will have privileges if anyEPIC, OBIX, Accudose
3. Required skills and minimum years of experience. Skills may include anything from Surgical (Ortho, Neuro, CV, etc.) Family Practice, Cardiology, Geriatrics, etc.
Must have at least 2 years of experience in labor and delivery.
4. Specific licensures and certifications/registrations required. (BLS, ACLS, NCCPA/AANP) Is a national certification required? Is a DEA, Prescriptive Authority required?
Michigan RN license, NRP, BLS
5. Shift or schedule requirements. (What support staff are in the clinic; Is a doctor available by phone, in the clinic, etc.) Is call required? If so, how often? Are weekends required?
Night shift 7pm -7am. Full time. Every other weekend. No call required
6. Number of patients in a day; who do they have as support staff?Variable 3 LDRP rooms and 3 post partum. Night shift supervisor and one other OB trained nurse
7. Nurse to patient ratio of this unit. (nursing only)
1-3 up to 1-5 with support on Med Surg and 2:1 in the ICU
8. Dress Code:Scrubs of any color
9. Tell us about the unit/department specific training and orientation program.2-3 week orientation depending on experience
