General Summary:
Seeking an experienced software engineer with extensive PC ecosystem experience for role as a software architect focused on Windows on Snapdragon products.
As a senior member of the team working on software architecture, you will have the opportunity to analyze requirements and develop high-level designs for new features, potentially including constraints of live update to infield devices. You will also drive technical initiatives to evolve Windows on Snapdragon software. The ability to work through potentially conflicting requirements and roadmaps is a necessary skill. You will work closely with development leads, software and hardware architects, project engineers, product managers, customer engineers, OEMs, and external partners.
Ideal candidate has extensive experience with Windows PC Ecosystem and must be able to take a systematic approach for understanding and refining requirements. Strong written and verbal communication skills are critical. In this cross-functional role, excellent people and leadership skills are key.
Responsibilities:
Provide technical leadership to integrate third-party PCIe discrete GPU into SoC, with a focus on system architecture to meet power, thermal, and performance requirements for graphics workloads. Partner with third-party GPU vendor and lead internal technology teams to meet product requirement.
Develop architecture for complex features and subsystems to meet Windows on Snapdragon product requirements; recommends architecture enhancements.
Independently research and work cross-functionally to define requirements. Hands-on prototype development.
Serve as a technical expert in developing solutions; participate in design reviews and recommend improvements to ensure alignment with business goals and customer needs.
Influence and negotiate with external partners to gain buy-in for ideas and align on project and subsystem implementation plans and milestones to ensure the needs of all stakeholders are met.
Act as a technical expert on PC industry trends, competitors' products, and advances in various engineering fields; share expertise within and/or across teams.
Leverage technical expertise to identify trends and define future solutions by contributing to discussions on the short- and long-term strategic direction of the product/technology roadmaps.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 8+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience.
OR Master's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 7+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience.
OR PhD in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 6+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience.
4+ years of work experience with Programming Language such as C, C++, Java, Python, etc.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's Degree in Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or related field.
15+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience.
Experience with third-party discrete GPUs and PCIe peripheral integration is a plus. General knowledge of graphics, power, thermal, and system performance concepts.
Experience with C/C++, ARM assembly, Jtag, WinDebug.
Experience with PC architecture - subsystems, hypervisor/virtualization, security, memory, storage, buses, peripherals, power, thermals.
Experience with PC software - System BIOS, UEFI, ACPI, Drivers, Applications.
Experience with Windows OS, Visual Studio, Windows device drivers, Microsoft WHCP/HLK test criteria, Windows Update system/processes.
Understanding of OEM/ODM product development flow and overall PC Ecosystem.
Able to be "hands-on" with the software and hardware, prototype, debug, and profile design suggestions.
Able to debug problems across multiple layers of hardware, OS, firmware, and drivers.

Pay range and Other Compensation & Benefits:
$180,000.00 - $270,000.00
The above pay scale reflects the broad, minimum to maximum, pay scale for this job code for the location for which it has been posted. Even more importantly, please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Qualcomm.
