We have an opening on the NASA’s Space and Earth Science Data Analysis (SESDA) contract for a Cloud Platform Engineer (CPE) supporting NASA Science Mission Directorate Cloud (SMDC) in the Computational and Information Sciences and Technology Office (CISTO) at the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC) in Greenbelt, MD. The position is fully remote although occasional in-person meetings and conference attendances would be required.The CPE will be responsible for tools to automate infrastructure resource provisioning, deployment, and management. The focus of the CPE will be on dev/ops tools to automate monitoring and alerting, streamlined software developments, deployments, and management, implementing and optimizing CI/CD pipelines. The Science Cloud will be a multi-cloud (AWS, Azure, and more) infrastructure, so there is an emphasis on creating multi-cloud solutions using tools such as Grafana, Kubernetes, Crossplane, Terraform, and more.Responsibilities:Automate InfrastructureUsing Infrastructure as Code (IaC), develop an automated infrastructure provisioning and configuration approach using reusable modules with tools like Terraform and/or Crossplane.Design and implement CI/CD pipelines to automate, build, test, deploy, and scale solutions in the cloud.Implement a GitOps approach and practice to manage the infrastructure and applications that aligns with security and compliance requirements.Performance OptimizationMonitor system performance and optimize infrastructure and application implementations for performance and cost efficiency.Implement strategies for scaling applications to meet varying workloads.Implement strategies for continuous observability.Provide support for the implementation of observability across the cloud and applications using tools like Grafana and cloud-native tools.Support multi-cloud log aggregation, data transformations, and creation of dashboards.Security and ComplianceThrough the above approach (IaC and GitOps), support the implementation of security controls to provide a continuous view of security and continuous compliance with requirements.Support the creation of security dashboards for observability of non-compliance with security requirements, risks, and incidents.Minimum Requirements:At least 5 years of experience in cloud architecture and DevOps on AWS, Azure, and/or other clouds.Production experience with tools such as Terraform, Crossplane, Kubernetes.CI/CD and GitOps experience.Desired: certification in Azure or AWS environment.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Requirement:

US Citizenship and ability to pass background checks for elevated privileges in government IT environments.
