Assistant Dean of Admission Admission Description JOB SUMMARY: The primary purpose of this position is to plan, organize & implement student recruiting efforts for Gustavs Adolphus College. Employment Type: Full-time (1.0 FTE), Benefits-Eligible, Exempt (Salaried) MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES: Travel and market Gustavus at high schools, college fairs, and other educational forums providing public presentations to individuals and groups; develop, manage, and evaluate strategy for assigned territory. Present Gustavus, including the admission process, at on-campus information sessions. Cultivate and enhance relationships with school counselors and other influential partners to advance the reputation of Gustavus. Interview prospective students on and off campus; follow up with written, telephone, and email contact with students, parents, and counselors. Review admission applications and render decisions by completing file review. Participate and support campus visit experience and recruitment programs. Assist with any professional activities as determined by the demands of the admission cycle. Participate in industry forums to continue professional development. Assist in developing admission counselors and student employees in various prospective student contact functions and projects to advance their learning and success. Conduct training programs for the staff including onboarding, functional expertise, systems use protocols and procedures, and additional training to enhance their expertise. Plan and implement the recruitment program for MN Private College week. Plan and execute the college's efforts at community recruitment events such as the Minnesota State Fair Assist with alumni events in the Twin Cities and beyond as requested - serving as a face of the college. Serve the college on a wide variety of committees to serve the institution. Communicate with a high volume of families their financial aid decisions. Field a high volume of inquiries related to the financial aid process. Interview students who are appealing their admission decision (denies). Help maintain records and statistics related to the admission process - keep things moving along. Advise the Dean and VP of Enrollment Management on admission strategies. Be an active member of professional associations representing Gustavus - MACAC and NACAC. Contribute to the well-being of the college through participation in a wide array of campus events, concerts, plays, athletic events, daily chapel, etc. All other duties as assigned. Prerequisites MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor s degree. 2-4 years prior admissions experience. Strong relationship building and execution skills to include organizational, administrative, and communication skills. Shared value of commitment to high quality and excellence. Ability to sensitively work with diverse populations. Valid driver s license. WORK EXPECTATIONS: Ability to travel in-state and out of state, along with evening and weekend hours required for special events and enrollment activities.
