The planner ensures that maintenance supervisors and technicians have all of the job steps, equipment, tools, materials and external resources required to perform repairs on plant equipment.

The planner develops and updates standard maintenance procedures, repair procedures, and work scopes. The planner identifies availability of materials needed, equipment and provides clear execution instructions to electrical technicians.

The planner often develops work scopes, answers bidding questions and evaluates bid proposals on contract bid packages.Job ResponsibilitiesReporting to the Coordinator – Concentrator Maintenance, the Electrical Planner will be responsible for the following:Responsible for proper planning of all electrical maintenance activities related to concentrator operations.Ensures that safety needs are given top priority in work planning and scheduling.Organize incoming work into defined planned work packages.Prioritize predictive and preventative maintenance activities to minimize downtime.Implement work procedures, scopes, and department work schedules using a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).Develops and documents maintenance strategies for new equipment in accordance with the OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) manuals and warranty terms for newly installed equipment.Consults with contractors, vendors/suppliers and team leaders when necessary.Estimates and plans a jobs’ sequence of steps and durations, and identifies special tools or equipment as necessary.Skills and QualificationsElectrician Journeyman’s license and two or more years related experience; or at least four years of electrical maintenance experience in a heavy industrial setting may be considered in lieu of license.Working knowledge of processing facility operations in the Mining industry including maintenance, safety, maintenance, equipment, and staff utilization.Demonstrated working knowledge of electrical code, instrumentation and control systems.Demonstrated ability to read and understand electrical prints and schematics.Experience/knowledge in NFPA 70E (arc flash) and MSHA requirementsProject management experience with ability to meet deadlines.Experience with document control systems.Strong verbal and written communication skills including the ability to effectively train and mentor employees.Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.Comfortable with a fast-paced environment.EducationHigh School Graduate or GEDCompletion of 2-year technical program or Bachelor's Degree in related curriculumMaster Electricians License preferredPhysical RequirementsThis position requires some work in front of a PC, desk, and phone and regular field work.Some lifting and strength required.Mesabi Metallics Company LLC is an equal opportunity employer and values diversity in the workplace.
