Under the supervision of the Director of Information Technology, the Network Administrator is responsible for maintaining and periodically refreshing the network and server infrastructure, identifying network requirements, installing upgrades, monitoring, and tuning the network for performance and high availability. Maintains a diligent focus on securing the network environment; protecting the organization's critical data. On occasion, provides help desk support to end-users for desktop and system issues. Demonstrates knowledge and skills to appropriately communicate and interact with staff, patients, families and visitors of all age groups, while being sensitive to their cultural and religious beliefs.

Job Responsibilities

:

Maintain network and system performance via monitoring, analysis and performance tuning; troubleshoot network performance issues including availability, utilization, throughput, and latency; escalate issues to vendors where appropriate.

Work with management to plan and execute the selection, installation, configuration, and testing of equipment; adhere to network policies and procedures; establish connections and configure/maintain firewalls.

Maintain the LAN / WAN infrastructure by provisioning circuits and equipment as needed.

Administering LAN / WAN / WLAN security, antivirus, and spam control measures.

Demonstrate a working knowledge of Windows servers and desktop products.

Demonstrate knowledge of setting up remote access for users

Maintain network security through proper configuration of firewalls (including VPN), updating/patching of network equipment, servers, etc.

Maintain and enhance network security, access controls, monitoring, and documentation.

Upgrade the network by working with vendors to develop, test, evaluate, and install enhancements.

Demonstrate the ability to administer a 250+ node network including firewalls.

Demonstrate the ability to support networked printers and photocopiers.

Work with the Director of IT to negotiate hardware/software service and technical support contracts.

Manage the virtual server environment and work with the system administrator to perform maintenance and upgrades, as necessary.

Serve as backup to manage the Windows server environment, including Active Directory, Office 365, SQL Server, file servers, print services, etc.

Respond to end-user support requests in a timely, efficient, and courteous manner.

Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, and participating in professional organizations.

Must have the ability to manage multiple projects, activities and tasks simultaneously.

Demonstrate positive personal attributes such as honesty, integrity and professionalism in all aspects of the job.

Demonstrate a strong work ethic by display of attendance, punctuality, and dedication to duty, including a willingness to travel and work extended/flexible hours.

Maintain prompt and regular attendance.

Verify timecard at the end of each pay period.

Perform related work, as assigned.

Any other duties as assigned by the Director of IT.

Job Skill Requirements

:

Strong networking skills: installing, configuring, and troubleshooting network issues in an environment of multi-vendor network equipment.

VPN technologies (configuration/troubleshooting)

Experience with network monitoring and tuning.

Configuration of firewalls (including Site to Site/IPsec VPNs).

Experience managing enterprise level wireless networks.

Experience supporting VoIP.

Microsoft Windows Server 2012/2016/2019 and Windows 10/11 Desktop operating systems administration.

Microsoft DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, Active Directory.

Microsoft Office 365 and Microsoft SQL Server.

VMWare vSphere.

The following skills are preferred but not required:

Cisco Firepower web content filtering

Scripting (i.e. Powershell, VB, SQL, etc.)

Education/Experience Requirements:

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Information Technology field plus a minimum of 2 years' experience as a full-time network administrator required, however, candidates with an associate degree in computers/networking and a minimum of 3 years' experience in the role of full-time network administrator will be considered in lieu of the bachelor's degree.

Working Hours:

An individual in this position customarily works 8 AM - 5 PM Monday - Friday; however, responsibilities sometimes require working evenings and weekends, sometimes with little advanced notice. On-call is also required.
