Investment Banking Associate 1/2 Tech M&A (Elite Boutique)

Our client, an elite boutique investment bank providing strategic M&A advisory services to software and Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) and HCIT companies, private equity investors and venture capital firms, is looking to add an Associate 2 to their team. This is a collaborative, high-performance team with an unwavering commitment to delivering best-in-class outcomes for every client. This role will sit in Boston. No visas, recent grads or bankers without Software M&A experience.
Associates work directly with Managing Directors during all facets of the M&A advisory transaction life cycle, including transaction development, transaction execution and transaction negotiation and strategy. Specific responsibilities include assisting with the preparation of market and operating analyses, information memoranda, marketing presentations, and financial and valuation analyses. Associates support VPs, Directors and Managing Directors during all phases of M&A execution, including supervising and developing Analysts, contributing to firm best practices and culture, and building industry relationships.
Essential Job Functions
Lead day-to-day project management and execution on a broad range of advisory and financing transactions, including developing and overseeing detailed financial and accounting analyses.
Analyze and manage the analysis of market trends, competitive landscapes, and publicly traded company financials in order to identify potential client solutions and new market opportunities.
Conduct and review product/service, economic, company and industry research and analysis.
Analyze and supervise the analysis of current and past accounting and financial records in order to advise clients through financial projections preparation; prepare, review and participate in client presentations.
Integrate strategic ideas derived from various analyses, forecasts, business plans, and research into presentations for various stakeholders.
Conduct due diligence investigations of companies to ascertain the soundness of their current and forecasted financial situation.
Underwrite transaction evaluation, preparation, due diligence and execution of transactions; and lead the preparation of marketing materials including teasers, information memoranda, and other transaction-related documentation.
Help prepare and contribute to deal pitches including idea generation and identify, research, and analyze M&A and financing opportunities.
Act as the financial and strategic advisor for clients of core accounts in conjunction with senior coverage officers.
Build and develop relationships with clients through ongoing engagement and demonstration of financial and industry knowledge.
Manage and develop junior staff.
Preferred Qualifications
IB Analyst to Associate promotes or MBA hires with 1-2 years of relevant experience.
Experience in software M&A banking is preferred, but not required.
Significant level of maturity and the ability to work as a team interfacing with top company executives and senior management.
Highly organized, with the initiative and ability to perform under pressure and tight deadlines. Comfortable reading and interpreting financial statements.
Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail. Strong written and oral communication skills. Interest in developing a career in Technology Investment Banking.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree.
Core modeling and valuation experience in a professional setting.
The salary range for this role is $175,000 - $225,000.
