The Associate Dean for Undergraduate Education provides strategic and innovative leadership and administration for the college's undergraduate programs, student services, and experiential learning initiatives. Reporting to the Dean of the College, the Associate Dean is integral to the collaborative administration team and assists in the administration of the scholarship of teaching and learning. Undergraduate students in the college number nearly 3000 and can choose from 17 majors, 23 minors and 3 two-year programs, and 5 certificate programs. Approximately one-third of these students begin their 4-year academic program at one of our 19 commonwealth campuses and complete their degree at the University Park campus. The college recently awarded $4.1million in scholarships to our undergraduate and graduate students.Key Responsibilities:Develop and oversee a robust undergraduate recruitment and retention program, cultivating relationships with other Penn State campuses, colleges, alumni, industry leaders, and stakeholders.Provide leadership, professional development, and support for faculty and staff as well as recognize excellence in advising and teaching.Collaborate with Development to administer and expand the college's scholarship portfolio.Ensure the quality and integrity of learning outcomes assessments across degree programs.Support experiential learning and career development opportunities for students.Participate in faculty hiring, tenure, and promotion processes.Champion initiatives promoting student success and the recruitment and retention of underserved students.Spearhead curricular review and revitalization efforts and support teaching and learning activities.Serve on University and external committees, acting as a liaison for undergraduate education matters.In conjunction with academic units and stakeholders coordinate the implementation and assessment of undergraduate components of the college's strategic plan.Qualifications:An earned doctorate in a discipline related to fields of study within a college of agricultural sciences.Eligibility for a tenured faculty appointment, at the professor rank within one of the college's academic units.Thorough understanding of the role and mission of a land-grant university.Demonstrated administrative experience and effective collaboration across university administration levels.Excellence in academic scholarship, particularly in teaching and learning.Strong communication skills and advocacy abilities within university, state, and national professional and governmental contexts.Ability to manage budget priorities and balance diverse office needs.Commitment to participatory decision-making and fostering a culture of inclusivity and diversity.Demonstrated management of personnel.Professional Engagement:Actively engage as a member of the Academic Programs Section (APS) in professional organizations such as the APLU Board on Agriculture Assembly.SALARY: Competitive, commensurate with background and experience.
