Chemical Management Specialist

How will we make an impact?

As a member of ULS Chemical Management Services, you’ll be working with a close-knit team of six fellow Sr Site Specialists, a Team Lead, and a Supervisor. We work along side with a diverse cross-functional team of professionals with wide range of expertise to provide various lab services to our customers. Our support includes providing customer services to researchers, maintaining the chemicals stockrooms, implementing good chemical hygiene, and managing the chemical database (which records 100,000+ chemicals!)

What will you do?

Efficiently maintain the database to manage chemicals which includes registering, barcoding, entering data, moving, transferring, disposing, and scanning inventory

Coordinate and perform the transport of chemicals and hazardous packages across campus with various tools such as transport buckets and/or push carts

Maintain chemical stockrooms which include returning chemicals to stockrooms, upholding safe chemical storing practices, and performing safety inspections

Provide customer service and work well with various levels of the customer's organization through different methods (phone, email, text, video, messaging, etc.)

Review, maintain, and build company data reports

Education and Experience

High school diploma or equivalent required

2-4 year college degree is preferred

Prior professional experience in a relevant field may be considered in lieu of a degree

Key Proficiencies and Skills

Excellent presentation, verbal and written communication skills

Detail oriented, strong time management and organization skills

Digital literacy including Microsoft Office Suite, databases, and internet

Can operate both independently and part of the team to meet customer expectations

Adaptable to changing schedules and proactive in the approach to problem solving and handling of routine/non-routine issues

Customer service experience preferred

Experience in laboratory setting preferred

Working Conditions

Works exclusively onsite at customer property which may include office areas, laboratories, chemical stockrooms, and shipping & receiving warehouses

Is required to wear personal protective equipment including lab coats, safety gloves, and safety glasses

Extensive walking and standing is common for 75-85% of the day

May be required to lift, push and pull 30-50 lbs. occasionally

Daily use of material handling equipment such as push carts and hand trucks

Compensation and Benefits

The hourly pay range estimated for this position based in California is $21.42–$32.13.
