The Website Developer will be responsible for building and maintaining custom WordPress websites hosted on Flywheel. You have proven experience with WordPress best practices, and various technical troubleshooting skills related to tasks such as security, performance optimization, and website migrations.The Website Developer is a self-starter, eager about learning and thriving in a fast-paced environment. Working with our Director of SEO + Website Services, as well as the Account Services and Design teams, you will develop engaging, high-performing websites that meet client needs and exceed clients’ expectations, upholding the high-quality standards associated with Red Thinking. You will also work closely with the SEO team to ensure websites are optimized for search engine performance and deliver a positive user experience. Post-launch, you will provide ongoing support and updates, ensuring websites maintain optimal performance.Reports to the Director of SEO + Website Services.Key Responsibilities/Duties (Includes but is not limited to…)

Develops responsive, custom WordPress websites and implements visually compelling and user-friendly WordPress websites tailored to client specifications.Manages inherited WordPress websites built by third parties, with the ability to troubleshoot issues, rebuild components, and optimize performance and functionality.Ensures seamless data exchange and functionality within WordPress websites through a strong familiarity with integrating and troubleshooting third-party APIs.Provides ongoing troubleshooting and technical support post-launch to ensure the smooth operation of websites.Manages technical maintenance such as plugin, WordPress core, and PHP updates, to ensure performance, security, and backups are running efficiently.Collaborates with The Director of SEO + Website Services to align technical solutions with broader site objectives.Collaborates with the SEO team to ensure site structure, speed, and functionality support SEO goals and best practices.Works closely with both the Account Services and Design teams to ensure cohesive project execution and timely delivery.Required Skills and Experience:

3-5 years of proven experience as a WordPress Developer, with a strong portfolio of custom-built WordPress websites.Proficient in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and PHP.Experience with website maintenance, including regular updates, security management, and performance optimization.Experience working with APIs, including integrating, customizing, and troubleshooting third-party API connections within WordPress to enhance website functionality and performance.Experience with responsive design and ensuring websites are mobile-friendly across all devices.Familiarity with debugging tools such as Chrome DevTools, error logs, and performance profiling to troubleshoot issues.Ability to optimize website performance through techniques like caching, minification, and image optimization to improve load times and user experience.Experience with WordPress database management for maintaining and optimizing database performance and troubleshooting errors.Strong communication skills and ability to seamlessly collaborate with cross-functional teams.Nice To Have

Knowledge of SEO best practices and experience integrating them into web development projects.Solid understanding of website security best practices, including SSL implementation, firewall configurations, and monitoring for vulnerabilities.Experience with website migrations, particularly from different hosting platforms or content management systems to WordPress.Familiarity with page builders such as Divi or Gutenberg for easier content management and site customization.Understanding of web performance tools such as PageSpeed Insights for performance auditing and improvements.Understanding of server management, especially within managed WordPress environments like Flywheel.Familiarity with ADA and WCAG accessibility standards, ensuring websites are compliant and accessible to all users.Experience with Google Analytics, Tag Manager and other tracking tools to monitor website performance and user behavior.Experience with WooCommerce or other e-commerce platforms, including setup, customization, and troubleshooting.About You
