Job Description - RESEARCHER LEAD (T221752)Position Summary:The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) seeks a Researcher Lead in the Department of Neurosurgery to assist in the research of malignant glioma. This role will require you to spearhead major research projects and lead a team of researchers towards achieving significant scientific goals. Your responsibilities will include strategic planning, project management, and ensuring the alignment of research activities with organizational objectives. You will play a critical role in mentoring junior researchers, fostering a collaborative research environment, and representing the research team at national and international forums. This position will involve research participant contact, research animal contact, and/or specimens.Key Duties and Responsibilities:Conduct tissue culture and maintenance of tumor cell lines for implantation into mice.Contribute to the design and analysis of murine survival experiments.Conduct rodent surgeries including intracranial and intraventricular tumor implantation with oncolytic HSV-1 viral treatment.Conduct necropsies and collect murine organs for tissue processing and other downstream analysis.Coordinate murine studies including animal procurement, maintaining surgical suite and supplies, and IACUC animal protocol knowledge.Produce histological specimens on organ (brain) and tumor tissue utilizing various techniques.Perform in vivo bioluminescent imaging of mice for luciferase-tagged cell lines and/or oHSVs.Utilize fluorescent, brightlight, and confocal microscopes for IHC and IF images of tissues.Perform flow cytometry on single cells created from brain and spleen samples from mouse necropsies.Maintain accurate lab and mouse surgical records.Use of FlowJo and Graphpad Prism software.Perform other duties as assigned.Salary Range:

$52,555 - $68,320Qualifications:Master's degree in a related field and one (1) year of related experience OR Bachelor's degree in related field and three (3) years of related experience OR Associate's degree in related field and five (5) years of related experience required.
