JHU Carey Business School is seeking to add an
Assistant Director Employer Relations
to its growing Corporate and Strategic Initiatives department. This position builds and maintains relationships with employer organizations for student internship and permanent employment in the healthcare industry, manages employer/student interactions, counsels students on job search strategy, assists the director with all office initiatives, programming, and strategic planning. The Assistant Director for Employer Relations is charged with building the Johns Hopkins Carey Business School brand as a source of talent for employers and with educating students about the hiring processes, timing, and competencies which will allow them to thrive in a competitive employment market. This role will also be a valued partner in the knowledge sharing and growth of industry insights in the assigned industry space internally to Carey colleagues. This position is based in Baltimore.Specific Duties & ResponsibilitiesEmployer Relations/Development – 65%Develops and manages ongoing relationships with companies, organizations, and agencies, domestically and internationally, in assigned industry area, that leads to employment opportunities (internships and full-time) for students. Assists Director with developing employer relations strategy, including target organizations and plans for connecting with them.Manages relationships with recruiters and hiring managers in their portfolio, identifies new employers, and develops relationships with them. Records and manages contacts in CRM.Shares insight on top employment options and employers in industry coverage space with leadership at Carey.Networks with alumni and other sources within assigned area to strengthen and broaden relationships.Coordinates with employer partners to conduct on-campus employer focused events, info sessions, on-campus interviews, etc.Analyzes relevant hiring and outcome recruiting data and determines trends to target specific companies.Builds core company list using data informed approach to identify organizations that have talent needs in line with Carey’s talent pool.Markets students to specific companies based on student interest and qualifications, and hiring organization’s recruitment need.Educates employers on best ways to connect with students and on tools available to employers for student interaction and evaluation.Collects feedback from employers and students on employer events to ensure quality delivery and mutual satisfaction. Uses feedback to make necessary adjustments.Collaborates with other internal stakeholders (Programs & Advising, Alumni Relations, etc.) on projects as necessary.Researches and stays informed in national, state and local hiring practices, employment trends, and other labor-related issues for appropriate industry verticals.Represents Carey at regional and national functions which contribute to the mission of Career Development and the Employer Relations team.Works closely with Student Services and industry-related student organizations. Liaison to Graduate Healthcare Business Association.Partners with faculty who teach subject matter related to industry coverage areas to share and engage industry contacts on campus.Student Facing Initiatives – 20%Provides scaled/group student advising/coaching in the area of job search strategy, industry insights, interview preparation, etc.Creates and manages industry and employer specific job search and interview preparation events and workshops.Determines readiness for direct employer interface and assists in connecting students directly with employers, alumni, etc.Career Development Project Responsibility – 15%Assumes responsibility for one or more projects within the Career Development office. Potential projects include but are not limited to the following list.Prepares and regularly distributes communication to employer partners.Grows and maintains partnerships with professional associations and industry consortiums. Attends industry-aligned events and conferences to represent the Carey Business School and make company connections.Participates in graduate employment survey efforts in conjunction with Carey IT and Institutional Research teams.Other duties as assigned.Special Knowledge, Skills, & AbilitiesAbility to work with individuals and groups and prepare and deliver presentations.Must be proficient with technology (MS Office Suite) and interested in identifying and adopting technology to reach and connect with target audiences.Well-developed interpersonal marketing and communications skills.Open, friendly, personable demeanor.Minimum QualificationsBachelor's Degree.Five years related experience, preferably in career services, human resources, and/or recruiting.Additional education may substitute for experience to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.Preferred QualificationsMaster’s Degree in Human Resources, business related field, or MBA.Classified Title: Employer Outreach SpecialistJob Posting Title (Working Title): Assistant Director Employer RelationsRole/Level/Range: ACRP/04/MDStarting Salary Range: $55,800 - $97,600 Annually ($75,900 targeted; Commensurate with experience)Employee group: Full TimeSchedule: Monday-Friday 8:30-5:00 with occasional evenings and weekend hours to support employer eventsExempt Status: ExemptLocation: Hybrid/JH at Harbor EastDepartment name: Corporate and Strategic PartnershipsPersonnel area: Carey Business School
