ABOUT THE ROLE
The
Outside Plant (OSP) Fiber Technician
will perform complete inspection and acceptance of both aerial and underground placement and associated construction activities for any assigned OSP project.This position will be covered by a collective bargaining agreement and is a union position. All candidates must be willing and able to sign on with the applicable union if hired.Company Overview

Responsible for reading prints and understanding the fiber optic color code to install and test fiber cable in a variety of environments (underground, aerial)Operate fiber fusion splicing machines and a variety of different OTDR and power metersInstall both aerial and underground splice closures, along with a variety of other closures common to the splicing and termination of fiber optic cablesWill perform fiber testing utilizing OTDRs, Power Meter/Light Sources and VFLsAccurately record and document testing results per customer specificationsAdditional responsibilities as directed by the Foreman/Construction ManagerABOUT YOU
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED is requiredPreferred knowledge of both CWDM and DWDM networking including CWDM filter splicingElectrical construction experience preferred, both aerial and underground placement and associated construction activitiesWHAT WE OFFER
Compensation & Benefits
This will be a union position.$26.36 – $33.89 per hour.
