This is a remote, US-based position.This leader provides management and oversight to the Data Science team to develop and use complex algorithms using advanced modeling techniques to interpret data, extract insights, and deliver tools to improve child outcomes. The primary purpose of this position is to provide full, daily leadership for assigned professional staff. This responsibility includes hiring, discipline, and termination, as well as coaching, performance management, assigning, checking, and approving work to satisfy team objectives. The candidate will ensure accomplishment of team responsibilities based on oversight from senior management, following established practices, organizational strategy, and department guidelines.What will you do?Maintain a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Is a consistent witness for Jesus Christ, maintain a courteous, Christ-like attitude in dealing with people within and outside of Compassion, and faithfully uphold Compassion’s ministry in prayer.
Act as an advocate to raise the awareness of the needs of children. Understands Christ’s mandate to protect children. Commit to and prioritize child protection considerations in all decision-making, tasks and activities across the ministry. Abide by all behavioral expectations in Compassion’s Statement of Commitment to Child Protection and Code of Conduct. Report any concerns of abuse, neglect or exploitation of children through Compassion’s internal reporting process and appropriately support responses to incidents if they occur.
Uphold and engage in Compassion’s core Cultural Behaviors.
Provide leadership and development to direct reports. Work with staff to foster an environment of professional growth and innovation in alignment with Compassion’s strategies and objectives.
Engage with ministry and department strategies and develop team strategy to support key priorities and objectives. Work with other teams across the ministry to align analytical and product roadmaps.
Lead a team of professionals to develop, analyze, model, and deliver data to assist decision makers in maximizing child outcomes. Work closely with other teams to understand context and challenges to provide creative solutions.
Lead team to build awareness and understanding of a wide variety of data sources both internal and external. Using this knowledge of data sources, enables and leads team to identify, develop and test relevant, actionable insights.
Work closely with teams within Learning team to develop plans to incorporate and deliver insights.
Perform analyses using a variety of techniques to produce insights that assist in improving child outcomes.
What do you bring?Bachelor's Degree in a related field, master's degree in a related field preferred.
10 years of experience with 5+ years of experience in the development sector.
Experience in managing a team on technical tasks and projects.
Proven experience in business analytics, statistical analysis, business intelligence, data warehousing, quantitative analysis, and/or data science.
Strong oral and written communication with the ability to visualize and explain complicated or technical information in a simple way to non-technical audiences.
Proficiency with Python, R, or similar programming language to clean, manipulate, and present data.
Knowledge in GIS and Spatial Analysis – ArcGIS Pro, QGIS, Google Earth Engine, etc.
Experience with Cloud-based services a plus – AWS, Google Cloud, Azure services used for Data storage and Data ingestion/transformation like S3, ADF, Glue, etc.
Experience developing and implementing AI models including large language models and machine learning algorithms.
Equivalent education, training and/or certification may be substituted for experience and education shown above.Why work here?The mission:
