Position Summary:

CVS is seeking an Operational Excellence leader for our Lumberton, NJ location. This role is responsible for being a key member of the team to lead and drive projects and culture to improve safety, quality, delivery, and productivity of the operations. In this role, you will and be responsible for the continuous improvement and support improvement of the key KPIs at the facility. Some specific responsibilities will be maintaining labor management systems (LMS), lean implementation, and process design/improvement. You will work to be the glue between operations, network optimization, and automation to drive a clear vision together to improve the value stream. Role will be expected to travel 10% to other DCs.

• Safety, Quality & Delivery: This role will be responsible for delivering capacity improvements to the operations by identifying and executing kaizens to remove bottlenecks, increase storage density, and ultimately meet customer demand. Responsible for identifying and improving safety at the site through use of technology, layout, improved ergonomics, and process. Responsible for helping to deliver world class quality by supporting sites with problem solving techniques to get to root cause and problems are made visible to solve.

• Process Engineering: Applies engineering methodologies/tools such as product slotting, studying labor standards (time studies), layouts and optimization of flow, and resource modeling to improve processes and drive waste reduction for distribution and inventory control operations. Help lead and contribute to site strategy and execution of process improvement initiatives with a primary focus on picking operations (full / split case), replenishment setup to minimize travel, and JIT inventory replenishment to drive higher throughput. • Lean: This role will be looked at to be the site expert in lean manufacturing and will support the team meet business objectives. Manages and completes high impact CI projects across the operation that lead to improved business results. Assesses CI initiatives and provides input and recommendations on future activities. Demonstrate a high level of competency in wide range of lean tools. Coaches employees in the use and implementation of CI & Lean principles. Support facilitation and execution Kaizen Events through all stages (A3 charter ideation / creation, pre-work identification and completion, delivery of results in Kaizen week, regular follow up and follow through on sustainment). Improving effectiveness of tier meetings, establishing/improving standard work, value stream mapping, creating a shared vision, implementing poke-yoke, and coaching process owners on how to use lean methods to achieve operational excellence.

• Data Engineering: Contribute or lead changes and projects related to data engineering adding data collection where not present. Translate data to information to aid in decision making and problem solving including but not limited to improved traceability, performance dashboards, performance reports, or Andon/escalation systems at the site. Will strongly use data to support and drive process and performance management decision with the operations team. Responsible for maintaining standards to drive informed decision making.

• Project & Change Management: The individual will be responsible for planning and executing multiple projects at the same time and utilize good project management skills by managing risk, understanding critical path and dependencies to meet project goals on time. This individual and kaizen partners must have robust follow through on changes to ensure success. Be able to see opportunities for improvement, put together a financial business case and project plan to initiate the change

• Automation: Contribute to the requirements specification development of automation improvements to the facility with implementation of key process technologies including but not limited to AMR/AGV, sortation systems, and picking systems (PTL/PTV), packaging systems, and other poke-yoke controls.

Primary Responsibilities:

Improves existing processes and workflows across departments, such as patient flow, revenue cycle management, supply chain, or clinical operations to optimize processes, reduce waste, enhance productivity, and improve overall efficiency.

Conducts process assessments, value stream mapping, and root cause analyses to direct the selection and integration of Lean Six Sigma methodologies like DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, Control) to achieve desired outcomes.

Designs performance dashboards to track key performance indicators (KPIs), and subsequently communicate results to key stakeholders and leadership.

Helps establish and implement change management efforts related to process improvement initiatives by engaging with teams to gain buy-in and address challenges as they arise.

Administers training programs or workshops to educate employees and/or stakeholders on operational excellence principles, methodologies, and tools.

Ensures the quality and safety of process improvements throughout implementation phases by communicating regularly with department leaders.

Manages process improvement operations, including project planning, resource allocation, timeline management, and progress tracking initiatives to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and meet expected outcomes.

Monitors team performance through regular, timely feedback as well as the formal performance review process to ensure delivery of exceptional services and engagement, motivation, and team development.

Directs individuals throughout process improvement initiatives, identifying opportunities for improvement, providing feedback, and driving the continuous development of individual capabilities.

Required Qualifications:

3+ year's experience in a manufacturing or distribution center environment

Experience managing projects and change management

Experience in Lean Manufacturing Concepts

WMS, ERP, MES, or LMS systems and database structure experience

Knowledge of MS Office applications

Preferred Qualifications:

7+ years experience in a manufacturing or distribution center environment with 3+ as continuous improvement, industrial engineering, or process engineering.

Standards based time and motion study systems such as MOST and MTM

Manhattan or INFOR WMS system experience

Power BI or Tableau dashboard creation experience

Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification or similar

Create project budgets and financial justifications related to capital expenditure equipment/projects

Comfortable creating and presenting concepts within team of direct peers as well as senior level management

Experience working with a larger corporation and counterparts in other remote locations

Should be able to work with a multidisciplinary approach in problem solving and collaborating with both internal and external stakeholders

Strong analytical thinking and problem solving skills and working with data/reports.

Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or related engineering/science field

Strong interpersonal & communication skills, self-motivated, customer oriented, multi-tasking, and successful at managing multiple priorities and tasks

Good verbal and written communications skills in English

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$66,330.00 - $145,860.00

This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.
