ERM is seeking a
Managing Consultant, Remediation Construction/Demolition Manager
to support opportunities in Houston, Texas and at times throughout the U.S. In this role, you will be part of a project team that supports clients’ needs for remediation construction and decommissioning, decontamination, and demolition (DDD) of industrial facilities. You will team with project managers, quality assurance managers, engineers, and field safety personnel to execute remediation or DDD projects. You will oversee contractors in the field for the safe implementation of fieldwork and work with the PM to track budget, expenses, and define new scopes of work.
You will lead the field implementation of the remedial solutions for contaminated soil, groundwater, sediment, and vapor using innovative and emerging remedial treatment technologies as well as traditional systems. Construction projects include environmental remediation technologies, civil works, site development/restoration, earthwork operations, remedial treatment systems, hazardous waste management and offsite disposal, industrial water and wastewater treatment systems, air treatment or monitoring systems. DDD projects will include a diversity of industrial sites. Some examples may include oil and gas facilities, power plants, former chemical manufacturing plants, and hazardous materials abatement.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Planning and construction review of remediation and DDD projects, including developing scopes of work, reviewing contractor work plans, evaluating scope options, developing or reviewing project cost estimates, attending pre-construction interviews, supervising specific tasks, participating in client and progress meetings, documenting progress and updating schedules, performing field safety walks, and summarizing and preparing final reports.
Reviewing contractor submittals including but is not limited to, Requests for Information, contract clarifications, contract-required submittals, change order requests, and other documents related to compliance with project specifications.
Providing construction management support can include construction quality assurance, evaluating site restoration, laying out earthwork operation final conditions, evaluating remedial systems, and supporting related environmental projects.
Supporting site investigation efforts to identify existing building conditions and support the sampling to identify the presence of hazardous materials for special handling during remediation and demolition.
Serving as a Field Safety Officer during site work, when necessary, preparing site-specific Health & Safety Plans, including monitoring conformance with safety and emergency procedures, conducting daily safety briefings and interacting with contractors and the client, conducting equipment inspections, and maintaining site safety records.
Serving as a Demolition Manager during site work, when necessary, by coordinating daily site work with contractors, reviewing scope documents against project activities, coordinating with the contractor’s site superintendent and project manager for daily tasks and fieldwork schedules, documenting field work progress.
Planning and scheduling on-site full- and part-time staff, evaluate subcontractor performance and schedules, and assisting the Project Manager with negotiating and resolving change order requests.
Communicating with the field team and Project Manager, supporting project tasks to assess project conformance with project plans and specifications, and assure that clarifications and interpretations required for proper execution of the contract are implemented.
Support Project Manager’s effort to identify and track upcoming construction management requirements, meet with clients to identify upcoming work, and assist in business development activities, including preparation of proposals, interviews, and project contracting.
REQUIREMENTS:
BS Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related degree with 5 or more years of experience in construction or consulting. Additional experience will be considered in lieu of degree.
Experience with remediation construction sites (and industrial DDD projects) and preparation of scope requirements and review of work plans, and report writing. OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER training required or will be provided and OSHA 30-hour Construction and 8-hour supervisor a plus.
Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) is a plus.
Ability to support cost estimates, track project costs, track project transmittals/submittals and review invoices.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Project tools.
Ability to provide excellent client service and communication; detailed project deliverables; excellent communication and organizational skills.
Work primarily in Texas and along the Gulf Coast but willingness to travel throughout the United States. Applicants should anticipate spending 80-90% of their time in the field on two-three week rotations with typically one-week breaks.
Ability to pass a background check and drug screen.
