Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner - San Leandro, CA

Compensation: $110 - 130 per hour

Overview: Nexus HR is looking for a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner for a reputable clinic in San Leandro, CA. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in psychiatric care and a proven ability to evaluate, diagnose, and manage mental illnesses effectively. **

About the Job

Provide compassionate care and treatment needed for patients’ mental health well being and other relevant aspects of mental health. Identify possible mental health issues; diagnose and provide treatment plans accordingly through therapies or medications, or a combination of both. Refer patients to other allied medical and non-medical professionals to provide holistic care.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Evaluate, diagnose, and manage mental illness and prescribe and review appropriate

medications

Assess the condition of patients, from admission to an ongoing basis‬‬ of monitoring

Develop and facilitate individualized medical treatment care plans

Develop a therapeutic relationship with patients

Successfully de-escalate situations regarding patients in psychiatric urgencies

Perform administrative functions such as clinical charting, REMS/cures monitoring

Collaborate with physicians, psychologists, mid-levels, social workers and other professionals for continuity of care

Work collaboratively and respectfully with an integrated team of Psychiatrist, PMHNP medical assistants, and support staff

Qualifications

:

1-year experience in Psychiatric as RN or NP

Successfully completed Nurse Practitioner accredited program

Having Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner certification is required (ANCC or other certification bodies)

Licensed to practice in California as RN and/or NP

Able to work in San Leandro, CA

Knowledge of principles and practices of modern clinical psychiatry, including abnormal psychology, diagnostic interviewing, community psychology and community mental health

Experience in behavioral health medication management

Ability to determine the diagnostic and therapeutic techniques needs of individual situations, take effective course of action and follow through with effective treatment plans

Experience interacting with people from disadvantaged backgrounds and working in low-income/under-served communities‬‬‬‬ is highly preferred

Current California Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) certificate in good standing

Malpractice insurance

Schedule:

Monday to Friday, 30 to 40 hours per week

Must be able to work for at least 6 months, preferably at least one year

Clinical caseload of up to 25 patients a day
