This is a fantastic opportunity to work with one of the most esteemed public accounting firms in the nation. Their industry specialties encompass manufacturing and distribution, real estate, construction, technology, transportation, private equity, financial services, staffing, and professional service firms. In this role, you will engage with clients across various industries.
Tax Directors hold responsibilities including, but not limited to: Conducts thorough technical reviews and approvals for all tax returns and government examinations, regardless of complexity. Ensures timely and accurate preparation of all federal and state income tax returns in line with applicable laws. Oversees and directs tax research projects to deliver precise and efficient outcomes. Actively engages in client meetings and tax planning initiatives, supporting the Business Assurance Department with larger clients. Serves as a resource for tax preparers, specialists, and Business Assurance Staff regarding specific tax issues or inquiries. Takes on client service duties for clients when delegated by the Partner, working directly with them. Informs relevant firm personnel about significant tax developments that impact clients. Supervises the tax team while providing hands-on training. Supports the Business Assurance (Audit) Department with larger clients as necessary. The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications: A current CPA license is mandatory. A minimum of 8 years of experience in public accounting, showcasing a clear advancement in the complexity, scope, and research involved in tax returns. At least 2 years of experience representing clients before tax authorities. A minimum of 1 year of experience overseeing and guiding the work of tax preparers. A Bachelor’s degree in accounting or an equivalent number of accounting hours is required; a Master’s degree in Taxation is preferred. A commitment to completing at least 40 hours of continuing education annually is essential. Must maintain good standing as a member of the American Institute of CPAs. Familiarity with CCH ProSystem fx Tax or similar tax automation/workflow software is highly desirable. Strong focus on client service. Ability to work effectively as part of a team. Demonstrated creative problem-solving capabilities. Self-motivated and independent worker. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
