We are looking for self-initiating problem-solvers who can work as part of a team to apply a wide range of fire engineering technical skills. The role will include working closely with world-leading architects and building owners developing code solutions and delivering innovative performance-based design solutions. Senior Fire Protection Engineers will provide financial and commercial project management, lead technical engineering services in projects across markets, and mentor junior staff. The role will involve interactive and collaborative work with our engineers and multi-disciplinary colleagues.This role will be based out of our Los Angeles, San Francisco or Oakland office.The Opportunity
In this role you will provide fire protection and life safety consulting engineering services to a variety of potential clients, such as architects, developers, owners, government and insurers, including:Project management for multiple projects including project planning, staffing, financial management, and successful project delivery.Provide fire protection consulting engineering services to a variety of potential clients, including but not limited to architects, developers, owners, government, and insurers.Developing client relationships, pursuing new business opportunities, and proposal development.Provide fire and life code consulting for relevant ICC (IBC, IFC, IMC) codes and NFPA standards.Development of fire models and dynamic egress models.Perform structural fire calculations.Develop fire safety strategies for special hazards.Provide consulting for life safety, building, and fire code compliance.Deliver prescriptive and performance-based design strategies.Design of fire alarm, fire detection, and fire suppression systems.Perform smoke control analysis.Perform site visits and communicate with architects, contractors, and consulting teams.Participate in and lead internal team meetings and external client meetings.Present design approaches to authorities having jurisdiction.Contribute to Arup research and technical skill development activities.Collaborate with multiple teams, across multiple offices in a multi-discipline environment.The Skills
Bachelors or Master's degree in Fire Protection Engineering or related field.A minimum of 6 years of professional working experience in Fire Protection.A minimum of 2 years managing projects.A P.E. license in fire protection engineering or in the process of achieving this professional credential.Strong communication skills essential for team-based and team-leading working.Excellent planning and organization skills required for our fast-paced environment, and must be highly motivated, proactive, and willing to take on new challenges.Solid understanding of relevant software, including FDS, CONTAM, egress modeling software, AutoCAD, Revit, BlueBeam, and the Microsoft Office suite of software.Candidate must be eligible to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsored work authorization now or in the future.The Benefits – What we offer you
