Job Description

This position is responsible for supporting the Epic Beacon Oncology application, with a specialized focus on oncology & research protocol configuration, validation, and testing.

Participating in our protocol collection and standardization of processes.

Collaboration and partnership with our protocol clinical content validation committee.

Mentoring and coaching of associate and intermediate Beacon analysts.

Actively collaborate with all Epic team(s) and Mays Cancer Center Operations for ongoing software maintenance and optimization.

With little to no supervision, lead the strategic execution, oversight, enhancement, implementation, and optimization of all clinical components of Beacon Oncology.

Responsibilities

This position is responsible for supporting the Epic Ambulatory and Beacon Oncology application(s) in various tasks ranging from troubleshooting, system enhancements, SOC and Research protocol build, validation, testing, and training. Guidance and general oversight may be required for more technical build and analysis.Responsible for documenting and adhering to the internal processes for UT Health IT.Under little to no supervision, this position is responsible for Ambulatory and or Specialty application(s)/module(s) of Epic.Must be able to thrive in a fast-paced, agile environment, which means being able to change direction rapidly, multitask, and demonstrate a passion and eagerness to learn new technologies.The Epic Ambulatory Specialty Application Analyst - Senior will collaborate with and provide expert-level support to their counterparts from other applications to successfully meet the development and implementation objectives for assigned Epic applications.Ability to mentor a diverse team and foster a collaborative and collegial working environment.Serves as project lead for key initiatives, including performing project management duties, as assigned.Develops, documents, and adheres to the internal procedures that will be used in conjunction with related applications and systems.Interacts professionally with leadership, faculty, staff, and vendorsQualifications

Actively collaborate with all Epic team(s) and Mays Cancer Center Operations for ongoing software maintenance and optimization.Establish, document, and adhere to change-control procedures for the system.Mentor and lead an expanding team as UT Health implements further Epic Ambulatory and Beacon Oncology modules.Presents recommended system enhancement opportunities and solutions for clinic-related scenarios. Using analytical evaluation skills, identify, propose, build, and demonstrate prototypes of application configuration options for review and approval by project requestors.Performs ongoing maintenance and configuration updates to Epic Ambulatory and Beacon Oncology applications.With no supervision, creates beacon protocols, test scripts, timelines, and plans for application and workflow changes. Performs actual testing of clinical information system configuration and processes, including testing across applications and/or the testing of the application configuration of other analysts. Coordinates and participates in requestor and user testing of application changes.Provides tier-two support to end-users both remotely and in-person. Monitors, investigates, troubleshoots, and resolves incoming tickets. Serves as a liaison between users and vendors.Coordinates system fixes and changes with software vendors. Coordinates the deployment of application changes with the training team and operations.With little to no supervision, lead the strategic execution, oversight, enhancement, implementation, and optimization of all clinical components of EpicCare Ambulatory and Beacon Oncology.Perform all other duties as assigned.

Experience:

1. A minimum of five (5) years of related Epic experience is required.

2. Epic Inpatient, Epic Ambulatory, or Epic Willow.

3. Beacon Oncology certification is preferred.

4. Strong understanding of the healthcare industry, particularly in back-office operations.

5. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

6. Ability to communicate effectively, written and verbal.

7. Strong attention to detail and analytic skills a must.

Certifications: Epic Inpatient, Epic Ambulatory, or Epic Willow. Beacon Preferred.

Education: Bachelor's degree is required.

Retirement

- Employees are eligible for either the Teacher Retirement System (TRS) or the Optional Retirement Plan (ORP). TRS is a defined benefit retirement plan which UT Health matches employee contributions. ORP is for eligible faculty staff employees. Voluntary retirement programs are also available to invest before- or after-tax dollars with the choice of five quality retirement plan providers.

Time Off

- A generous leave program offers multiple paid leave options:

Front-loaded Paid Time Off: 128 to 208 hours (16 to 26 days) of Paid Time Off based on years of service, given at the start of each fiscal year. PTO may be prorated in year one based on date of hire.Extended Illness Bank: 8 hours (1 day) accrued per month which can be used for illness or injury after one day of Paid Time Off is taken.Paid Family Leave: Up to 240 hours (6 weeks) to care for a spouse, child, or parent after 6 months of consecutive employment.Holidays: 12 set paid holidays each year.

FSAs
