DescriptionThe Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is seeking a skilled Cloud Systems Administrator to support its Homeland Enterprise Information Technology Secure Services & Support (HEITS). This position plays a vital role in the ongoing operations, maintenance, and evolution of the Homeland Secure Data Network (HSDN) and the Classified Local Area Network (C-LAN). We are looking for a candidate who excels in designing, deploying, and managing cloud environments with a focus on Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure. You will need to possess the ability to design and develop complex solutions independently. Your daily tasks will include the operations and maintenance of virtual environments, managing cloud migration projects, and implementing innovative technologies.The ideal candidate will have a strategic mindset, outstanding communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.Primary ResponsibilitiesDesign, deploy, and manage cloud solutions leveraging major services like Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure.Provide technical expertise for system integration and consolidation across diverse operating environments.Create comprehensive cloud implementation plans, operational documentation, and enhance current systems and designs.Conduct cloud assessments alongside planning and migration for various application sets.Oversee the operations, maintenance, and continuous improvement of cloud applications across all environments.Basic QualificationsBachelor's degree in a related field with 8+ years of relevant experience or a Master's degree with 6+ years of relevant experience; additional experience may substitute for education.Demonstrated experience as a Cloud Administrator (AWS or Azure), including cloud migration, networking, identity access management, optimization, and automation.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Strong understanding of cloud security principles and best practices.Possession of at least one advanced cloud certification.Proven history in leadership roles for cloud migrations and application refactoring.Familiarity with Linux and Windows operating systems.Team-oriented with a capacity for high performance and adaptability in a dynamic work setting.Able to communicate effectively and collaborate with team members positively.Strong organizational skills to prioritize and plan tasks efficiently.Capability to deliver high-quality work both independently and within a team in a fast-paced environment.U.S. Citizenship is required.Must hold an active Top Secret clearance and be eligible for TS/SCI clearance.Preferred QualificationsExtensive knowledge of Azure infrastructure provisioning and security standards.Experience in migrating on-premises infrastructure to the Azure platform.Background with Microsoft Hyper-V, particularly in designing and migrating workloads between local and Azure environments.Demonstrated experience in supporting IL6 Azure infrastructure.Proficiency in programming and automation tools (JSON, YAML, Python, Terraform).Experience with Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.Familiarity with cloud security tools.Understanding of containerization within the Azure environment.Experience implementing Security Technical Implementation Guidelines (STIG) across various systems.Desired Azure professional certifications or additional associated experience.Knowledge of formal systems engineering methods, including assessments of alternatives and business case analysis.Other industry certifications are a plus.Original Posting Date:
