Position SummaryBranch Civil is searching for a highly skilled, team-oriented Construction Engineer to join our well-established, growing company. The Construction Engineer will assist in design-related tasks and report to the Director of Engineering. The Construction Engineer will work closely with the Project and Pursuit teams to provide construction engineering support for specific tasks or operations considering Safety, Quality, Schedule, and Budget. The Construction Engineer promotes a positive company image focusing on collaboration, technical expertise, project planning and support during pre-construction and construction process.Essential Functions:Supporting Operations and Pre-Construction needs of multiple projects by providing construction engineering support as assigned by Director of Engineering.Construction Engineering support may include but not limited to tasks such as Support of Excavation (Concepts, Designs, and Submittals), Haul Route Analysis, Misc Work Plan development, Pile Driving Plans, Lift Plans, Girder Erection Plans, Structure Staging and Assembly Plans, Access Plans, Temporary MOT and Traffic Diversion Plans, Temp Stream Crossings, and Temp Stream Diversions.Prepare, review, and revise engineering calculations, technical drawings, in accordance with specifications.Assist in providing engineering solutions for complex problems encountered during the design and construction phases of the project(s).Ensure work plans and designs are constructable and comply with contract documents.Assist in providing input on design elements, material choices, and construction methods to optimize project performance and safety.Active participation in brainstorming and planning sessions to assist in the development of innovative ideas or work plan conceptsAssisting with major measurements, quantity trends, reporting and forecasting of quantities for projects assigned to support.Assistance with providing valuable informational needs, including technical issues and or recommendations, related to RFI's, FDC's, NDC's, and other supporting documents related to design changes.Prepare and present progress reports, technical documentation, and recommendations to senior management and stakeholders.Ensure adherence to environmental, health, and safety standards in all engineering designs.Perform inspections and audits to verify compliance with designs and specifications.Ability to work both independently and with others effectively operating as a team member.Conducts oneself in an ethical and professional manner.Demonstrates high commitment to meeting organizational goals and objectives.Good written and oral communications skills.Promote Branch's Safety Culture.Required Qualifications:Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering (BSCE)Minimum 4 years of related industry experience in Heavy Civil ConstructionProfessional Engineer (PE) license or Engineer-In-Training (EIT) with desire to obtain PE LicenseExperience in roadway and structure design and construction on transportation projects preferred.Working knowledge of standards, specifications, codes, regulations and laws of Virginia and North CarolinaWorking knowledge of Contract Documents (Contracts, Drawings, and Specifications)Working knowledge of Geotech and Structures Designs preferred.Computer experience with knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, etc.).TravelThe position will travel approximately 20% of the time to project sites and other operating regions with occasional overnight lodging.Work EnvironmentThis position operates in an office environment with frequent project site visits.
