The Administrative Assistant position at Military Sealift Command (MSC) in Norfolk is responsible for performing a variety of administrative and clerical tasks to provide excellent support to the Government customer. This position requires a high level of attention to detail, exceptional organizational skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.The Administrative Assistant position participates in the
Ability One program ; allowing individuals with significant disabilities to work in various positions within our Government Contracted positions.Perks of the position:Additional $4.57 Health and Welfare BenefitWeekday scheduleFull-Time (40 hours per week)Government recognized holidays offPTO- based on contractAccess to comprehensive benefitsResponsibilities:Provide general administrative support by processing correspondence, performing data entry, and record managementServe as the primary point of contact for the departmentProvide excellent customer service by addressing inquiries and requests promptly and professionallyResponsible for managing the department's workload, delegating assignments to junior level team members, and performing routine Quality Assurance reviews to ensure all tasks are being completed accuratelyConduct research required to complete special projects as assignedMaintain and accurately update; internal databases, spreadsheets, reports, records, and filing systems.Prepare and distribute internal communications, reports, and presentations as requested.Collaborate with other departments to ensure efficient office operations and workflow.Procure and maintain office supplies and equipment by submitting Order Requests on behalf of the Government department to ensure inventory levels are sufficientAdhere to established procedures, policies, and guidelines to maintain confidentiality and data security.Perform other administrative duties as assignedRequirements:High school diploma or GED equivalent
required.Advanced degree in Business or related field
preferred.Minimum of two years' experience in administrative/office setting
requiredLeadership experience
preferredProven experience as an Administrative Assistant or in equivalent role.Proficient in MS Office Suite with an emphasis on Word, Excel, and OutlookExperience with utilizing internal databases and running data reports
preferredStrong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a professional and friendly demeanor.High level of attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.Familiarity with military or government administrative processes and systems is preferred.Please note holding or obtaining an active Secret Clearance is a requirement for this position and to become eligible for a start dateAs an Administrative Assistant at MSC in Norfolk, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the smooth functioning of our office operations and ensure that our team members have the support they need to excel in their roles
