Working knowledge of GS1 Standards is preferred, but not required. What you will do: As the Director of Government Policy and Regulations, you will be responsible and accountable for supporting the GS1 US Government and Regulatory Strategic Plan OGSM (Objectives, Goals, Strategies and Measures) deliverables, and will serve as the business lead for this effort. This includes supporting the GS1 US government team in executing strategies and plans to increase education and adoption of GS1 Standards and collaborating with GS1 US internal teams and members, GS1 Member Organizations (MO), NGOs and government agency staff to identify areas/trends, gaps, and opportunities to leverage GS1 Standards. You will manage a cross-functional team and be responsible for working to discuss, review and act upon identified government activities, which could include providing comments to federal agencies, determine what workgroups and events GS1 US should engage in. You will lead efforts to explore new government projects and programs for GS1 US by leveraging your policy knowledge to anticipate where GS1 Standards can be leveraged for the benefit of a government agency or industry. The Director will drive outreach/education on GS1 Standards/GS1 US to government agencies and other key stakeholders, and is accountable to advocate, promote and coordinate delivery of GS1 Standards and solutions for government contracts and projects. This position will be expected to work remotely, with monthly travel to the GS1 US headquarters in Ewing, New Jersey. The preferred location is the Washington, DC area. Essential Duties & Responsibilities:Support the interest of GS1 US (and GS1) in working with government agency stakeholders, including current and prospective agencies and technology companies, academic institutions, trade associations, as well as GS1 US members to engage and partner on current government projects.Assist the Vice President in identifying opportunities, executing strategies in support of the opportunities, and working with peers to support industry in their work with the US Government.Serve as Business Lead on the Government and Regulatory Strategic PlanUnderstand agency and partner pain points and priorities to determine where their initiatives and objectives best fit with current projects as well as defining new strategies/opportunities.Leverage existing knowledge and awareness of current public policy priorities to identify areas of future opportunity for GS1 US.Help build and maintain strong agency, industry, and internal relationships across multiple teams.Network and initiate dialogue with government agencies and strategic partners to identify viable strategies.
