Position Overview
The Calibration Vehicle Technician will assist in the technical and logistical support of production-intent and development vehicles to be used in engineering on board diagnostics (OBD) and calibration testing. Within this team, strong communication skills are needed as you’ll be providing or coordinating instrumentation, maintenance, DoT readiness, and calibration updates and also diagnostic trouble shooting. You must also be detail oriented, as you’ll be working with different engineering teams in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
Coordinating with engineering, vehicle program teams, site facility teams and plants in keeping constant and consistent communication to provide support for calibration fleet trucks
Installing testing instrumentation like thermocouples or pressure pickups
Ordering fleet type maintenance and repairs on class 4-8 trucks
Knowing Dept. of Transportation requirements for trucks and trailers
Scheduling route and load tests based on engineering requests
Maintaining fleet documentation and presenting uptime reports
Forecast budget requirements for vehicles at each site
Ability to travel to remote test locations to support engineering, customers, or production plants
Knowledge of service portal and ordering replacement parts
Diagnostic fault analysis and execute service procedure
Create work orders in Maintenance Connection
Create pyxis of issues (include pictures, data, and significant details)
Minimum Requirements
Associate’s degree
At least 6 years of experience supporting engineering activities and/or automotive or diesel mechanic experience
OR
At least 8 years of experience supporting engineering activities and/or automotive or diesel mechanic experience
Additional Requirements
Qualified candidates, excluding current International Motors employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States. International Motors does not anticipate providing employment related work sponsorship for this position (e.g., H-1B status)
Desired Skills
Strong communication skills in-person, on the phone, and by email
Well-versed in commercial class 8 fleet trucks, trailers, and on-highway norms
Knowledgeable of maintenance cycles, DoT requirements, and procuring parts
Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
Familiar with Calibration tools like INCA and Canalyzer
Familiar with performing calibration updates with service tools like Cummins InSIte, NED, or other service tools
Familiar with CAN based datalinks and reading communication busses
Flexible and adaptable in a rapidly changing environment
Either have a Class A CDL or be willing to get one
Identify, troubleshoot, contain, and permanently correct engineering issues in the assembly plant
