Staff Software Engineer, Platform Operations

How you will help
HealthVerity is seeking a Staff level Software Engineer responsible for developing core components and services used to shape all of HealthVerity's products and solutions. Working closely with other members of the R&D team, you will be in charge of implementation and design of our internal developer platform to empower our engineers to work most effectively.
What you will do Develop scalable and reliable AWS infrastructure solutions using IaC. Design, implement, and maintain automated CI/CD pipelines. Own monitoring solutions to track system performance and proactively address issues. Ensure compliance with security policies and industry standards. Promote best practices and knowledge sharing amongst the R&D team. Create and maintain documentation for infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, and processes. Lead efforts in diagnosing and resolving complex technical issues, including performance bottlenecks, outages, and configuration errors. Continuously assess and refine engineering practices to enhance efficiency, reduce deployment times, and improve overall system reliability. How success will be defined
Ability to naturally derive systems design from complex problem statements Ability to understand what makes sophisticated systems successful and maintainable at scale Understanding the difference between well and poorly designed systems with a strong drive towards addressing the problems rather than run away Ability to design effective, scalable, modular architectures independently Expertise at identifying bottlenecks and areas for efficiency improvement Engaging cross functional teams to arrive at solutions Understanding how to effectively leverage cloud technologies to form solution Successful at evaluation and implementation of new tools to gain operational efficiencies Making security a priority Required skills and experience
8+ years of experience with AWS 8+ years Infrastructure as Code (IaC) development (CDK + CloudFormation preferred) 2+ years of software system design / architecture 6+ years of experience developing with Python and/or TypeScript Seasoned experience with DevOps practices Desired skills and experience
Familiarity with strict security compliance programs such as FedRAMP, HITRUST, etc. Ability to lead incident management and disaster recovery events Base salary for the role is commensurate with experience and can range between $70,000 - 220,000 + annual bonus opportunity.
Hiring Locations We prioritize hiring team members from the Philadelphia area whenever possible, as our main office is located in Center City, Philadelphia, where we operate on a hybrid model with in-office work required two days a week. However, for certain roles, we're also open to hiring from our hub locations, where we have groups of remote workers. Please note that, due to tax and labor regulations, we can only hire from specific states, but remote work is supported in the following key hubs and approved states:
