Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

Control of the updated copies of Company Policies and Level 2 Procedures or Industry Standards, Codes & other Reference Publications relevant to operations onboard Marine Vessel. (LIST of all the Standard Codes / Reference Publication on the MWB).

Control of the latest versions of Industry Standards and Codes relevant to wire ropes onboard Marine Vessel. The mandatory standards are:

API RP 2D for barge main crane ropes

API RP 2I for mooring lines (anchor cables)

ASME/ANSI B30 Series for all other applications

Maintain the original copy of the Vessel Certificates/Documentations with a register indicating the current status such as date and place of issue, and expiry date, as follows:

Vessel Certificates relevant to Classifications

International Load line Certificate

Hull Classification Certificate

International Oil Pollution Prevention Certificate

Boat Non-Convention Safety Equipment Certificate

Boat Non-Convention Safety Construction Certificate

Boat Non-Convention Safety Radio Certificate

Radio Station Statutory License/International Service

Statutory Certificate of Register/International Service (Certificate of Nationality-Patentee)

International Tonnage Certificate

Certificate of Inspection of Crew Accommodation

Annual Tax Receipt

Deratting Exemption Certificates/Vessel Inspection Certificates

Vessel “International Ship Security Certificate” in compliance with International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) Code.

Other Vessel Certifications/Documents driven by regulatory requirements specific for area of operations

Prepare purchasing Requisition for Class B or C Wire Ropes and Wire Ropes slings

Control of all Wire Ropes related documents and records which includes the following as a minimum:

Control of all wire rope related standard formats onboard Marine Vessel.

Maintain onboard the file copy of Procurement Specification for every wire rope including a copy of “Barge Main Crane Ropes Specifications” stamped with “For Reference Only”.

Initiate the development of reel files for all new (Class A, B & C) wire ropes received onboard Marine Vessel.

Maintains and Up-dates all (Class A, B & C) wire rope reel files while the rope is onboard Marine Vessel. Ensure that minimum documentation requirements is entered in the reel file, and provide an explanation within the reel file if the required entry could not be obtained. Required minimum documentation is as per E & M Guidelines JRM2204-001. Section 6 – Wire Rope and Marine Wire Rope Procedures. JRM/Global/Off-002.

Responsible for the transmittal of all (Class A, B & C) Wire rope reel files to the concerned L2CC whenever the subject wire rope is transferred to other location.

Maintain the updated “JRM Group E&M Department Approved List of All Wire Ropes Grouped by Class” onboard Marine Vessel.

Maintain a copy of the updated “Register of Certified Wire Rope Inspectors” and “Certificates” onboard Marine Vessel.

Maintain the “Monthly Wire Rope Inventory Report” for all wire ropes onboard Marine Vessel both installed and in storage. Copy of this report shall be transmitted to Wire Rope General Superintendent, Area Marine Senior Management, Area E&M Senior Management and Marine Base L2CC.

Assist the Barge Superintendent and Barge Chief Engineer in documenting the “Barge Crane Wire Rope Trending Analysis” based on the subject wire rope records. Copy of the bi-annual Barge Crane Wire Rope Trend Report shall be transmitted to Wire Rope General Superintendent, Area Marine Senior Management and Area E&M Senior Management.

Oversee the storage, handling and maintenance of wire rope in storage onboard Marine Vessel.

Prepare necessary Wire Ropes inspection Forms and distribute to the Qualified Wire Rope inspectors, who will action the inspection. Each inspection completed to be return back to the L2CC for records and copy to the Chief Engineer for updating into the company Preventive & Maintenance system.

Assist the third party services provider in the electromagnetic testing (NDE) wire ropes on MWB as directed by the Barge Superintendent.

Responsible for refusing unsafe work and for carrying out all work in accordance with the established HSES Safety standards and Work practices

Assist the third party services provider in inspecting, calibration and Load testing of all MWB Rigging, Safety, Welding and Mechanical equipments.

Maintain and control of all documentation and written inspection/inventories records of all Rigging Lifting gears such as, slings, shackles, Webb sling, Tie-Down Chain and etc.

Ensure that colour coding of all Rigging Lifting gears after every 6mos inspection is properly observed per established colour coding chart.

Ensure that all defectives rigging Lifting gears to be destroyed and removed from service, to prevent any further accidental use

Send copy of every 6month inspection report to Marine World Wide Wire Rope Superintendent

Maintain and control of all documentation and written inspection/inventories records of all Misc. Rigging Hand Tools such as, Chain Falls, Lever Hoists, Scaffolding Material & Ladder, Hooks, Power tools and etc.

Ensure that colour coding of all Misc. Rigging Hand Tools after every 6mos inspection is properly observed per established colour coding chart.

Ensure that all defectives Misc. Rigging Hand Tools to be removed from service, as to prevent any further accidental use.

Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time by the Barge Superintendent and/or Barge Chief

Essential Qualifications and Education:

High school graduate

Min 1 year Rigging and warehouse related work experience.

Certified Wire Rope Inspector

Basic Computer Skills e.g. MS Word, MS Excel
