Job Summary:

The SLPA provides support to licensed Speech-Language Pathologists in delivering speech and language services to students in Lamar Consolidated ISD. The SLPA implements treatment plans, assists with screenings, maintains records, and collaborates with school staff to support students’ communication needs. ($1500.00 Signing Bonus) (Immediate Start Date) (Multiple Positions Available)

Key Responsibilities:

Service Delivery:

Implement therapy activities designed by the supervising SLP to address student communication goals.

Conduct individual or small group sessions to improve students' speech, language, and social-pragmatic skills under SLP guidance.

Use materials, AAC devices, and other tools to facilitate communication goals.

Screening and Data Collection:

Assist with screenings and informal assessments, as directed by the SLP.

Document student progress, maintain accurate records, and provide feedback to the SLP for assessment and treatment planning.

Documentation and Record-Keeping:

Maintain records of sessions, attendance, and progress notes for each student.

Track therapy goals, report data, and support the SLP in preparing required documentation for Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).

Collaboration and Communication:

Communicate effectively with students, teachers, parents, and other school staff to support speech and language interventions.

Work with the SLP to adapt materials, modify sessions, and ensure that activities meet individual student needs.

Administrative and Clerical Support:

Prepare and organize materials for therapy sessions.

Assist the SLP with managing the therapy room or space as needed.

Qualifications:

Education: Completion of an SLPA training program or associate degree in speech-language pathology assisting.

Certification: Current SLPA license or certification as required by state regulations.

Skills: Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work under supervision.

Reporting Structure:

Reports directly to the supervising Speech-Language Pathologist and District Administrative Staff.
