Job Summary:The Network Administrator II/Net Ops Specialist will be responsible for the installation, configuration, and management of network infrastructure at Fort Johnson. This role involves maintaining the performance, integrity, and security of the network to ensure optimal operations. The specialist will work closely with other IT professionals to resolve issues, optimize network efficiency, and ensure compliance with DOD regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
Install, configure, and support network hardware and software components, including routers, switches, firewalls, and other network devices.
Monitor network performance to ensure high availability and reliability.
Troubleshoot network issues and perform root cause analysis to prevent future occurrences.
Implement security measures and protocols in compliance with DOD 8140 to safeguard network data and resources.
Assist in the planning and implementation of network upgrades and expansions.
Collaborate with IT teams to integrate new technologies and services into the existing network infrastructure.
Provide technical support and guidance to junior network administrators and other team members.
Maintain accurate documentation of network configurations, changes, and procedures.
Conduct regular network performance tests and assessments to ensure optimal functionality.
Participate in the development and execution of disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field is preferred.
Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in network administration or a similar role.
Certifications: Relevant industry certifications (e.g., CompTIA Network+, Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), or equivalent) are required. DOD 8140 (formerly DOD 8570) certification compliance is mandatory.
Skills:
Proficiency in network hardware and software.
Strong understanding of TCP/IP, routing protocols, and network security.
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
