Job Description: Staff Accountant
Overview:
The Staff Accountant will manage General Ledger tasks and special projects as directed by the Supervisor or Manager. This role includes reconciling bank and credit card statements, performing account analysis for balance sheet accounts, and handling special assignments from the Manager or Director of Accounting.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and record entries according to established policies for designated entities.
Assist with the monthly closing process.
Conduct and review bank reconciliations and record journal entries to address outstanding items.
Oversee the complete accounting cycle for financial statement preparation, including crafting and posting journal entries, analyzing financial results, and drafting financial narratives.
Ensure timely and high-quality completion of all tasks.
Collaborate with operational departments to ensure effective processing of contracts and accurate revenue recognition.
Prepare and review balance sheet account reconciliations.
Ensure timely and efficient completion of all schedules.
Investigate and resolve balancing discrepancies promptly.
Work effectively with colleagues in Accounting and other departments to implement changes and complete special projects.
Provide financial information and support to team members and internal stakeholders.
Identify opportunities for process improvements through automation, consolidation, or reengineering.
Carry out ad-hoc reporting, analysis, and modeling as requested by management.
Qualifications:
Required:
BA/BS/Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
2+ years of experience in general ledger accounting.
Willingness to work occasional evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.
Strong analytical skills, self-motivated, and proactive.
High proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including advanced functions, formulas, and tables.
CAM License required to be obtained within the first year of employment.
Preferred:
MA/MS/Master's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
CPA and/or MBA preferred.
3+ years of general ledger accounting experience.
Experience in relevant accounting fields preferred.
Public accounting experience preferred.
Familiarity with accounting software preferred.
Community Association Manager’s (CAM) License.
