Employment Specialist
JOB CLASSIFICATION:

REPORTS TO:
Director of Employment Services
JOB PURPOSE:
Provide on-site support for employed consumers to ensure job learning and retention.JOB
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Offer job coaching services.
Provide support to consumers of the Center for Specialized Services.
Assess the job sites of consumers, assess individual consumers' needs to ensure best work performance, and follow ADA standards.
Accompany newly employed consumers to their job orientation.
Teach consumers how to utilize public transportation.
Provide consumers with on-the-job training (Job Coaching) at their work site.
Train consumers in appropriate work behaviors.
Train consumers in appropriate social skills.
Develop and implement behavior management training techniques.
Conduct Job Analysis at Assessment and Employment sites.
Ensure consumers receive appropriate compensation and incorporate strategies as needed (i.e., Task Analysis, pictorial tools) to assist client with learning and retention of required job tasks.
Recommend and coordinate adaptive equipment and technology needed for each consumer to be efficient in his/her job.
Assist in the development of Individual Support Plans for consumers and assure execution is in conjunction with appropriate staff and or employment personnel.
Provide mediation between the consumer and his/her employer and co-workers.
Assist with monitoring consumer progress monthly once job coaching has faded to ensure job retention.
Refer consumers to appropriate community resources when applicable.
Complete all required paperwork and thorough documentation about consumer's day at work. Implement the setting of goals in accordance with consumers' needs and abilities and document progress of goal completion.
Explain consumers' accommodations to employers when appropriate.
Assure compliance and maintain standards as outlined by CARF and appropriate federal, state, and local regulations.
When available, will use Vocational Evaluation Report as a guide for development activity.
Communicate with Vocational Department staff for additional information and understanding with each consumer's individual support needs.
Familiarizes self with and follows Facility and Department Policies and Procedures.
All other job responsibilities as specified by supervisor.
Maintain clean and orderly environment.
Follows all personnel policies.
Receive yearly performance reviews.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS:Education:
High School Diploma or GED.
Experience:
Work experience with individuals with disabilities or background in social service.
Skills:
Excellent interpersonal communication skills, strong organizational skills, and the ability to be very flexible. Excellent professional writing skills and good computer skills preferred. CPR & First Aid training.
Work Hours:
Must have a reliable vehicle, license, and valid insurance and have the availability to work during days, evenings, nights, and weekends.
PHYSICAL
REQUIREMENTS:
Using fine and gross motor skills. Ability to push or pull up to 25 pounds. Lift and carry up to 30 pounds. Ability to bend, stoop and reach.
WAGE:
$19.00 per hour
