About the Role:
Do you want to influence how the largest commercial real estate company in the world runs its business? If so, CBRE is seeking an Accounting Manager to join their team at their corporate headquarters located in Dallas, Texas.
Responsible for managing and coordinating a broad range of sophisticated accounting and reporting activities associated with the global leasing and fixed asset accounting. Responsibilities include supervising the regional leasing and fixed asset representatives for EMEA, APAC, and Americas. Overall responsibility for ensuring global compliance with lease and fixed asset policies, including consolidated internal and external reporting as well as process improvement and transformation projects. Establish and maintain excellent relationships with internal and external clients, including the shared services organization that is responsible for day-to-day accounting.
The ideal candidate must be solution-oriented and have a proven track record of process improvement in a global organization.
What You'll Do:
Manage and supervise the work of the global lease accounting team, ensuring that client and corporate deadlines are met.
Ensure that standard accounting policies, practices, and procedures are being utilized and applied globally.
Supervise, oversee and review all components of the global lease accounting team as it relates to monthly and quarterly close which includes coordinating with regional lease team representatives, regional controllers, Finance, and the shared services organization.
Supervise, oversee and review all components related to global lease accounting including, but not limited to, new lease activations, modifications, terminations, technical accounting support, disclosures, and other relevant activities.
Accountable for aligning with existing policies and continually improving accounting and reporting processes.
Contribute to key accounting projects and deliverables to ensure reporting accuracy and that departmental deadlines are met.
Arrange for and act as primary contact with the organization’s internal and external auditors on accounting matters.
Partner with Business Finance to explain variances.
Maintain compliance with U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles by providing accounting guidance on a variety of subjects.
Interpret accounting policies and practices; including the implementation of new operating procedures to improve efficiency.

Bachelors Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field. 10+ years experience in public and/or private accounting, including 7+ years experience in progressively responsible management positions, or any similar combination of education and experience. 3+ years of supervisory experience. Demonstrated ability to motivate and work with a team, train personnel, and handle employee issues confidentially and fairly.
CPA or MBA (graduate degree) preferred, but not required (depending on experience).
Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational and analytical skills. Ability to comprehend, analyze, and interpret the most complex business documents. Ability to effectively interact with management, employees, auditors, etc. and respond effectively to the most sensitive issues. Ability to accurately explain/report activity in verbal and written communications. Ability to make effective and persuasive presentations on complex topics to employees, clients, top management and/or public groups. Ability to motivate and work collaboratively with business partners, key employees, top management, and client groups on various projects. Fosters an environment of team-building and an open door policy.
Accounting Standards (FASB), theories, & practices. Demonstrated experience & knowledge of financial issues & economic impact beyond technical knowledge. Requires in-depth knowledge of financial terms and principles. Ability to analyze the most complex business/financial data and develop innovative solutions. Conducts financial/business analysis including the review preparation of reports. Advanced understanding of accounting and bookkeeping concepts. Develops and administers accounting practices to ensure optimum client satisfaction while guaranteeing CBRE financial interests are protected.
Broad experience with large financial systems such as Oracle, PeopleSoft, Hyperion, etc. is desired. Knowledge of real estate service industry and terminology is helpful.
External and internal audit/SOX compliance.
Overall understanding and experience in application of GAAP and SEC financial reporting requirements including financial statements and financial statement footnotes.
Strong analytical and problem resolution skills, including the ability to research and simplify complex situations.
Ability to interface with all levels of the organization to collect information and drive resolution.
Must be able to effectively manage and prioritize critical deadlines.
