Systems Programmer II (Mainframe - z/OS)

TTI, Inc. is looking for a Systems Programmer II at our Corporate office in Northwest Fort Worth, TX.
The Systems Programmer II is responsible for installing, configuring, monitoring, troubleshooting and maintaining all LPARS (Logical Partitions) within the Mainframe to ensure optimal operation of the mainframe and installed applications. The Systems Programmer II handles assignments of a more complex nature with limited direction/guidance and provides direction and guidance to the System Programmer I position.

ACCOUNTABILITIES
Ensures optimal performance of the mainframe by proactively conducting ongoing performance monitoring, tuning and adjusting, as necessary.Provides effective Level II help desk support on a 24/7 basis by researching and analyzing issues and requests to determine mainframe (hardware and software) application related implications, effectively communicating with all impacted parties, and by troubleshooting and resolving issues with a sense of urgency to minimize any system downtime.Effectively maintains the mainframe by performing maintenance patching and application upgrades (including operating system and various applications) as needed.Ensures optimal mainframe set-up by conducting effective new hardware installations, hardware replacements and upgrades and by performing operating system reconfigurations as needed.Enhances functionality of the mainframe system by developing and modifying scripts to automate system processes.Provides support to application developers/programmers by providing technical knowledge and guidance.Ensures applications are effectively set-up on the mainframe by installing the application and by conducting application availability testing.Creates optimal mainframe infrastructure in support of new applications by researching and recommending hardware/software technologies in support of application requirements.Ensures mainframe security integrity by reviewing and implementing mainframe policies within the system.Oversees the work of and assist in developing the skills of the System Programmer I by providing guidance and direction.EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or GED required. A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science preferred.Minimum of five years of related experience as a Systems Programmer I and Participation in IBM z/OS preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.SKILLS & CERTIFICATIONS
Advanced knowledge of ALC, MQ, COBOL, DB2, VTAM, Z/OS, CICS, TSO, ISPF and JES.Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills.Strong organizational skills and multitasking ability.Strong attention to detail skills.Demonstrated ability to work in teams with a collaborative interpersonal style.Good verbal and written communications skills with the ability to effectively document procedures.Ability to work weekends and after business hours.Possess accurate keyboarding proficiency.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
