Caterpillar Inc. seeks Data Scientist II at its facility located at 540 W Madison St, Suite 310, Chicago IL 60661.
Under this role, the beneficiary works as an independent contributor to multi-person analytic teams. Utilize knowledge in quantitative analytic methods, data management, and or associated digital technologies, handling all but the most complex issues. Make decisions on routine, medium risk issues that may affect the project team, suppliers, or internal customers. Mentor and develop the capabilities and organizational knowledge of more junior information scientists. Work on CAT data from various domains to facilitate CAT Data Platform construction and usage. Communicate effectively with Business team to understand the business needs to improve current models or building new models. Responsible for data manipulation on the cloud environment, using Snowflake and AWS Sagemaker Studio, AWS S3, AWS CloudWatch, AWS Lambda. For big data processing, use Hadoop and Spark on AWS cloud environment to optimize time and cost. Performs data cleansing and data quality improvement using SQL and Python programming. Builds models using Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Machine Learning techniques to conduct customer identification and classification. Maintain a data pipeline integrating CAT customer, asset, and contact data from various domains to facilitate the target of communication. Report cat digital platform metrics to leaders through the creation and management of PowerBI dashboards Collaborate with software engineering teams to perform the proof of concept works for the company’s data platform. Work with software engineering team to productionize the proof of concept works. Understand pipeline data architecture established by the software engineering team to assist integration and adjustments of proof of concepts products.
REQS: This position requires a Bachelor’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Statistics, Mathematics, or related quantitative field and two (2) years of professional experience as a Data Engineer, Data Analyst, or related occupation utilizing quantitative analysis, data science, or related experience. Additionally, the applicant must have employment experience with: (1) Python; (2) SQL and AWS; (3) Creating Machine Learning Models; (4) Using statistical analysis; (5) Creating data visualizations in BI tool; (6) Natural Language Processing; and (7) Working with a software engineering team.
