The University of Wisconsin-Platteville, with campuses in Platteville (main) and Baraboo-Sauk County, invites applications for the position of

Dean of the College of Engineering, Mathematics and Science .

The Dean's primary roles are to further the mission of the University, while serving as the College's chief academic and administrative officer, and to provide vision and leadership that enhances the College's tradition of excellence in teaching, research, service, outreach, and diversity. The successful candidate will possess strong leadership skills and demonstrated commitment to student success and will represent the College to both internal and external partners. Candidates must exhibit an appreciation of, sensitivity to, and respect for our University's mission to foster a diverse environment that contributes to an inclusive culture and climate through the promotion of critical discourse and meaningful interactions between all members of our campus community.

The Dean reports directly to the Provost. The salary for this position is commensurate with experience.The successful candidate will provide strategic leadership within the College, across the university, and in the region; work with faculty and staff and community stakeholders to implement a shared vision for the College; commit to pedagogical best practices and maintain programmatic accreditation (e.g. ABET, ACS, etc); participate actively in promotion and tenure processes within the college; maintain and expand partnerships with regional employers; strategically manage distance education programs, including the online master's program and partnership programs with technical colleges; provide progressive fiscal management; support faculty, staff, and student growth and achievement; increase and support research opportunities for students and faculty; foster relationships with alumni; collaborate with the other Universities of Wisconsin to advocate for a responsible evolution of system-wide program arrays; energetically fundraise; and serve as a passionate and vocal advocate for publicly-supported STEM education on and off campus, including with members of the state legislature and Board of Regents.

What You'll Need to Succeed:A distinguished record of teaching and scholarship that qualifies candidate for tenured appointment at the rank of full professor in a department within the CollegeMinimum 3 years of administrative and/or leadership experience in an academic setting (e.g., experience as center or institute director, lead in research working group, program coordinator, department chair, and/or assistant/associate dean)Demonstrated advocacy for and support of effective, engaging, and innovative teaching practicesDemonstrated ability to work productively within a shared governance structureDirect experience with the accreditation process (ABET experience is a strength)Demonstrated success in budget development and management, strategic planning, and fundraisingBroad experience supporting undergraduate education and knowledge and understanding of the value of public higher education

College of Engineering, Mathematics and ScienceWith roots traced back to the Wisconsin Mining Trade School in 1908, the College of Engineering, Mathematics and Science at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville has a long and proud history of preparing engineers to meet the needs of the region and the nation. The College is deeply committed to a teaching-focused mission, emphasizing hands-on learning, applied research, and strong industry partnerships to prepare students for successful careers in engineering, mathematics, and science. We value innovative teaching practices and are dedicated to fostering an inclusive, supportive environment for both faculty and students. The College offers seven accredited engineering majors plus a new major in Computer Engineering along with majors in Chemistry, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Data Science, Mathematics, and Sustainability and Renewable Energy Systems. We offer online masters' degrees in Engineering and in Cybersecurity and remote completion of Electrical, Industrial, and Mechanical Engineering degrees through the Platteville Engineering Partnerships program. In Fall 2022 the College opened a new engineering building with over 16,000 square feet of laboratory space and a nearly 20,000 square-foot state-of-the-art innovation center. Approximately 150 faculty and staff are dedicated to the success of approximately 2400 students in the College. With an active College Alumni Chapter over 15,000 strong, the College is well connected with industry.Application Deadline:
