DESCRIPTION
Lead and implement key projects targeted at improving environmental compliance for products or facilities. Lead strategy and execution for initiatives focused on emissions compliance, materials compliance, facilities compliance, pollution prevention or resource conservation. Advise on the develop and dissemination of policies, programs, tools and practices to manage environmental or compliance risk and leverage opportunity. Provide consulting services on environmental and compliance issues, champion the development of environmentally sustainable business practices, and perform as the local technical expert for one or more engineering or environmental specialties. Monitor and measure overall environmental and compliance performance, analyze results and propose solutions to identified risks and opportunities. Leverage environmental topics and trends related to air, exhaust, water, waste, sustainability, and materials. Use environmental data to solve problems, understand business impact, protect and improve the environment while also making a positive impact in human health and well-being. Analyze technical and legal documents and act as subject matter expert to develop strategies and plans for meeting Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and California Air Resources Board (CARB) Environmental Standards and Regulations. Champion compliance with environmental regulatory requirements imposed on industry by local, state, provincial, national, and international organizations including air emissions, wastewater discharges, natural resource consumption, waste generation, spill prevention and reporting, and emergency response. Work with EPA and CARB certification reviewer to process application certification and compliance. Lead, implement, and prioritize multiple compliance projects, utilizing sound project management skills to manage the scope, cost and quality of the implementation defined project objectives. Support end-users in their efforts to understand environmental requirements. Drive and manage system level requirements for environmental projects and programs and lead the process to define and execute corrective action plans.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Positions required Master’s degree in Mechanical, Environmental, or Materials Engineering, or related field and 3 years of experience as a Mechanical, Environmental, or Compliance Engineer or Specialist, or related position Alternatively the employer will accept a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Environmental, or Materials Engineering, or related field and 5 years of experience as an Environmental or Compliance Engineer or Specialist, or related position. Experience to include: Emissions and materials compliance; manage environmental or compliance risk; propose solutions to identified environmental risks; Environmental topics and trends; Subject matter expert in Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and California Air Resources Board (CARB) Environmental Standards and Regulations; Environmental regulatory requirements; project management skills; manage system level requirements; define and execute corrective action plans.
