The Plant Human Resources Manager plays a key role in ensuring the effective management of human resources functions within our food manufacturing facility. This position is responsible for overseeing all HR activities related to employee relations, talent management, recruitment, training and development, compliance, and overall workforce engagement. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in HR management, labor/employee relations, and the unique challenges of the food manufacturing environment. This role will be instrumental in fostering a positive, high-performance culture that supports operational goals, productivity, and a safe, compliant working environment.
Duties and Responsibilities
:
Employee Relations:
Act as a trusted advisor and point of contact for employees and management on all HR-related matters.Handle employee concerns, grievances, and conflict resolution, maintaining a positive and productive work environment.Promote a positive plant culture by implementing initiatives that enhance employee engagement, satisfaction, and retention.Ensure fair and consistent application of company policies and procedures, providing guidance on HR issues when needed.
Talent Acquisition and Recruitment:
Manage the full recruitment process, including posting job openings, conducting interviews, and selecting qualified candidates for various roles in the plant.Partner with department heads to determine workforce needs and ensure staffing levels meet operational demands.Develop and maintain relationships with staffing agencies and local job centers to ensure a pipeline of qualified candidates (if applicable).Coordinate onboarding and orientation for new hires, ensuring smooth integration into the plant culture and operations.
Training and Development:
Assess training needs and develop programs with Corporate Talent Management Team to ensure employees possess the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their roles effectively and safely.Collaborate with plant leadership to develop ongoing training initiatives, including safety training, skills development, and compliance training.Implement employee development programs that enhance leadership skills and career growth opportunities within the company.Monitor training effectiveness and adjust programs as needed to meet evolving needs.
Performance Management:
Assist Corporate Talent Management Team and leadership with the performance management process, including setting performance goals, conducting evaluations, and providing coaching and feedback to employees.Support managers in addressing performance issues and implementing improvement plans.Foster a high-performance culture by recognizing and rewarding outstanding contributions.
Compliance and Labor Relations:
Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal employment laws and regulations, including labor laws, wage and hour laws, and health and safety regulations (e.g., OSHA).Monitor adherence to food safety and workplace safety standards (including HACCP, GMP, and other industry-specific regulations).Support the development and implementation of plant policies, ensuring they align with company standards and regulatory requirements.Manage union relations (if applicable), including negotiating collective bargaining agreements and handling grievances in a fair and timely manner.
Health, Safety, and Well-being:
Collaborate with plant EHS Leaders to ensure all health and safety protocols are followed and that the plant is in full compliance with relevant safety regulations.Promote employee well-being through wellness initiatives, mental health support, and health and safety awareness programs.Conduct safety audits, investigate workplace accidents, and work with management to implement corrective actions when needed.
Payroll and Benefits:
Assist in the processing of plant payroll with Corporate Payroll function, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies and legal requirements.Handle employee inquiries in collaboration with Corporate HR regarding payroll, benefits, and other HR-related matters.
Data Management and Reporting:
Analyze HR and business data to identify trends and provide insight and strategies for decision making and optimal performance.Maintain accurate employee records, including personnel files, certifications, training logs, and other HR documentation.Generate reports related to workforce metrics, turnover, attendance, training, and other HR activities to provide actionable insights to plant leadership.Ensure compliance with recordkeeping requirements as mandated by local, state, and federal laws.
Flexibility to work non-standard hours as needed.Performs all other duties as assigned.Minimum Job Requirements:
Education/Certifications and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or other related field.SHRM-CP, PHR, or other HR certifications are preferred.Minimum of 5-7 years of HR experience, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or managerial role within a manufacturing or industrial environment.Experience in the food manufacturing industry is a strong plus.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Proficient use of a computer, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote), and other related applications or software.Knowledge of labor laws, employment practices, and safety regulations specific to manufacturing settings.Strong background in employee relations, conflict resolution, and performance management.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships across all levels of the organization.Strong knowledge of HR software, payroll systems, and employee management tools.Ability to analyze data and provide insights to improve workforce performance and engagement.Knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations and ability to manage compliance in a manufacturing setting.Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.Ability to work independently and as part of a team to achieve goals.High level of integrity and professionalism.Proactive, solutions-oriented, and able to handle complex HR issues effectively.Strong problem-solving abilities with a focus on continuous improvement.Demonstrated ability to manage change and lead teams through transitions.Supervisory Responsibilities

Manage direct report including but not limited to: Human Resources Administrator.Work requires supervising and monitoring work performance of direct reports including making final decisions on hiring and disciplinary actions, evaluating program/work objectives and effectiveness, and realigning work and staffing assignments, as needed.Develop functional responsibilities of individuals that report to this position and ensure that best-in class output is created.Working Conditions and Physical Effort:
Typical work in office environment but will spend periods of time in manufacturing plants which will have exposure to unusual elements, such as dirt, dust, fumes, odors, darkness and/or poor lighting, noise and vibration. Seasonal exposure to weather elements to include, but not limited to, extreme temperatures, wetness and humidity.Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.Must be able to lift up and carry 15 pounds at times.Travel on an as-needed basis, which may vary depending on business requirements (less than 10%).Expectations:
