Qualifications- High school diploma or equivalent required- Current Basic Life Support certification (BLS) from the American Heart Association required- 1 year technical/vocational training school program or 1-3 years' experience as a medical assistant or EMT-B certification required- CMA, AAMA, RMA, CNMA, or CCMA Medical Assistant certification preferred

Because patients typically come to us when they aren't feeling their best, it is incredibly important to us that our staff members strive to provide the compassion and emotional support our patients need.Our Urgent Care Center is located on the Cooley Dickinson Hospital campus at 30 Locust St, Northampton, MA

The operating hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm and Saturday & Sunday from 9:00am to 5:00pm.We are open on major holidays 9:00am to 5:00pm, but closed Thanksgiving and Christmas.The Opportunity We are seeking a full time, 40-hour Medical Assistant to join our team! The ideal schedule will be Monday-Friday 7:30am- 4:00pm.Since Urgent Care is a 7-day-per-week operation that delivers care days, evenings, weekends, and holidays, we request staff to be flexible with scheduling needs and take on weekend/holiday coverage as needed.As a small but strong team of 1-2 providers and 2-3 support staff, our Medical Assistants get the opportunity to work autonomously to the top of their education/certification while also functioning as part of a collaborative team. We do our best to keep all employees in their assigned locations; however, you may also be asked to float to other locations for training/precepting purposes or during times of staffing shortages/other extenuating circumstances (for cross-coverage purposes). The other locations are Southampton, Amherst, and Greenfield. Responsibilities Include: Direct patient care duties- Obtain vital signs and blood specimens- Assist providers in performing invasive and non-invasive procedures- Perform point of care testing on patients Indirect patient care duties- Check-in and register patients- Process referrals- Order and stock clinical supplies and patient education materials- Transport patients and specimens as needed- Monitor the environment of care- Perform administrative tasks as needed The position requirements include organizational skills with attention to detail, thoroughness, practical decision-making, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to teamwork.This position is part of the 1199SEIU Bargaining Unit at Cooley Dickinson Hospital.
