Hogan Lovells is seeking an experienced
Public Relations Manager
to support our Litigation, Arbitration and Employment (LAE) practice group, which includes the International Arbitration, Investigations, White Collar and Fraud, Labor and Employment, and Litigation (Americas) practice areas. The role will also assist with profile raising efforts for several offices in the Americas, some of the firm's key sectors (e.g., technology), and firm strategic priorities (e.g. our people, DEI, pro bono, responsible business).
This position, located in our
Washington, D.C . office, is part of the Americas PR team and sits within the global PR team, which operates as a single team and is part of the global Communications team. The direct reporting line for the role is to the Director of PR - Americas, who is based in New York, and who in turn reports to the global Head of Communications. The PR Manager will work alongside two other PR Managers, who have oversight of the firm's other two primary practice groups - Corporate & Finance and Global Regulatory and IP. This person will have support from a PR Specialist focused on awards and submissions, and a PR Coordinator who provides full-team support.

OBJECTIVES
Raise the profile of the LAE practice group - this includes the practice areas of International Arbitration, Investigations, White Collar and Fraud, Labor and Employment, and Litigation (Americas).Help to support profile raising in the Americas though stories on firm initiatives involving our people (Attorneys and Business Team), responsible business, pro bono, innovation and legal tech.Take responsibility for profile raising for a number of our key sectors in the U.S. - particularly in the area of technology and tech-related litigation.Raise the profile of a few of our other offices in the Americas.JOB DESCRIPTION
Take responsibility for profile raising for the firm's Litigation, Arbitration and Employment practice group, the Technology sector, and several offices in the Americas.Work closely with M&BD colleagues in relevant practice groups/sectors and around the world to develop and support profile raising.Support the firm's lateral hire announcements, particularly for the LAE practice in the Americas.Support other firmwide announcements e.g. promotions, financial results, etc. - these larger communications projects are shared among the global PR team.Build strong relationships with key internal stakeholders - partners, M&BD team, management, People team, Responsible Business and Pro Bono teams, etc.Demonstrate strong relationships with top-tier, regional, national, and trade press, and implement a media contacts program for relevant practices/sectors - help them and other spokespeople build and maintain relationships, and prepare them for interviews.Identify potential news, topics, and comment opportunities. Responsible for driving the quantity and quality of media coverage for the firm, LAE practice group, and the Americas region.Draft and distribute briefing notes and press releases, set up journalist roundtables and briefings, place byline articles (and occasionally edit articles as needed).Work with the PR team on awards submissions - these are mostly managed by our PR Specialist but the PR Manager will also help to develop ideas for submissions with the M&BD team, and review submissions.Act as an ambassador of the firm, and of the communications team, both internally and externally.Develop, contribute to, and oversee production of communications relevant to PR activities, such as practice, sector, and office-focused profile-raising presentations.Work alongside the M&BD team to monitor competitor activity and brief stakeholders on profile raising activities of competitors.Work with the global PR team to prepare PR activity reports for key stakeholders, and prepare less formal PR updates for various practices/stakeholders.Work alongside the other members of the Americas PR team to oversee and support the firm's PR agency- including identifying PR priorities, key topics, and partners to work with, as well as other activities to ensure we are receiving high quality services and regular reporting.TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT
Educate the partnership in media relations best practice and deliver in-house media relations training to lawyers as and when required.Engage in regular professional development activities and networking such as participation in relevant organizations.All members of the firm are encouraged to participate in our global Responsible Business program.Other duties as assigned.QUALIFICATIONS
REQUIRED SKILLS
Excellent written and oral communication skills.Excellent relationships with relevant journalists.Ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters with discretion.Ability to handle high-pressure client conflicts with stakeholders and media.Proactive approach to media relations, utilizing strategy, planning, and execution skills.Proven sound judgment for media relations issues.Strong organizational skills and an ability to prioritize and complete simultaneous projects with minimal supervision.Effective interpersonal and team working skills.Ability to meet deadlines and work well under pressure.Understanding of legal and business concepts or the ability to learn them quickly.Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).EDUCATION, CERTIFICATIONS, AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Seven (7)+ years of public relations experience, preferably in a law firm or in litigation.PR agency and journalism background a plus.Bachelor's degree in relevant field or equivalent combination of practical experience and training/education.Master's degree a plus.HOURS
Core hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Must be flexible to work additional hours.
In Washington, DC, the annualized salary range for this position is $126,450 to $183,000 depending on the candidate's overall experience and other job-related factors permitted by law. Full time employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus. In addition, full time employees as well as some part time employees, will be eligible for the firm's fringe benefits as they currently exist.
