The ideal candidate will be a team player with significant legal experience in reviewing and negotiating complex contracts, with the ability to provide sound legal advice to internal client groups as requested, to collaborate with other internal business partners supporting this client, to prioritize and complete high-level urgent matters efficiently and decisively, and to supervise outside counsel where appropriate. The candidate must be a strategic thinker, have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, have significant transactional experience, demonstrate good judgment, and have a proven track record of advising clients in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. The Network Counsel will handle substantial responsibilities under the supervision of two Managing Associate General Counsels, including the following responsibilities:

  • Creating and providing periodic legal training to internal and external stakeholders, including submarket field teams and outside counsel, as necessary to successfully implement and support such agreements and initiatives.

  • Advising on strategies to lower network real estate costs and minimize risk of network disruptions.

  • Supervising outside counsel’s work in support of this client group (including transactional, litigation and zoning matters).

  • Counseling internal clients on a range of legal issues relating to real estate and regulatory compliance matters impacting Verizon’s network deployment and operation.

  • Assisting the Network client in resolving landlord disputes.

  • Representing Verizon in meetings, negotiations and disputes with local governments regarding network projects and regulatory requirements.

  • Supporting strategic projects and other tasks or responsibilities assigned by Managing Associate General Counsel
