Henry Ford Health has one of the largest and most advanced orthopedic groups in the country. We provide orthopedic care for both adults and children (https://www.henryford.com/services/orthopedics/pediatric) . Our team includes specialists in all areas of orthopedics, including:
Sports medicine – official team doctors of the Detroit Lions; the Detroit Pistons; the Detroit Free Press Marathon; and many area colleges, universities and high schools
Joint replacement
Bone Health and Fracture Prevention Clinic
Broken bones and trauma
Bone cancer and soft-tissue sarcoma
Our team also provides specialized care based on the area of your body where you’re experiencing pain, such as:
Back pain and spine care
Foot and ankle care
Hand and wrist care
Joint care

GENERAL SUMMARY:
Under direct supervision from a leader on the Leadership Salary Plan grade up to and including M07, provides medical operations support to appropriate clinical department(s) utilizing knowledge of medical terminology and procedures in a hospital, clinic or laboratory environment and conducts special projects as defined and assigned by department(s).
Schedule Appointments: Manage patient bookings and reminders.
Handle Patient Inquiries: Respond to calls and emails professionally.
Update Medical Records: Maintain accurate electronic health records.
Process Billing: Manage insurance claims and patient payments.
Prepare Documentation: Transcribe dictations and draft medical reports.
Support Medical Staff: Assist doctors and nurses with administrative tasks.
Maintain Confidentiality: Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Coordinate Referrals: Arrange specialist appointments and diagnostic tests.
Manage Office Operations: Order supplies and organize filing systems.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Requires a high school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
One (1) year of experience within a medical office setting preferred. Literacy and experience working with Microsoft Software Programs required.
Previous experience scheduling appointments/maintaining calendars preferred.
Interpersonal skills necessary in order to communicate effectively with callers and visitors, and provide information requiring ordinary courtesy and tact.
Ability to distribute departmental mail and other materials. Familiarity with medical terminology.
