Job Type Full-timeDescriptionWe are seeking a skilled Sewer to join our onsite Sample Room team. The Sewer will play a critical role in supporting the design and production teams by constructing, altering, and refining apparel samples in accordance with product specifications, design sketches, and technical guidelines. This position is ideal for a detail-oriented individual with experience in garment construction and a passion for fashion production.ResponsibilitiesSample Construction:Sew, assemble, and finish garments based on design specifications and tech packs, using industrial sewing machines and other specialized equipment.Prototype Creation:Assist in creating initial prototypes and first samples for new collections, working closely with designers and pattern makers to ensure accurate construction and fit.Alterations and Adjustments:Modify and adjust sample garments for proper fit, design revisions, and fabric specifications. Perform necessary alterations to ensure the garment aligns with the final product vision.Quality Control:Review and assess finished samples for quality and accuracy. Identify and report any issues with stitching, sizing, or finishing to ensure high-quality standards.Fabric Handling:Cut and prepare fabric according to pattern templates and production requirements. Handle fabrics with care to prevent damage or loss during the sample creation process.Collaboration with Design and Production Teams:Work closely with the design, pattern, and production teams to communicate any challenges or adjustments needed during sample creation. Provide feedback to ensure smooth workflow and accurate sample creation.Maintaining Clean Workspace:Keep the sample room organized and maintain sewing machines, tools, and equipment in good working condition. Ensure that all work is conducted in a safe, clean, and efficient environment.Adherence to Deadlines:Work efficiently to meet project timelines and production schedules. Communicate any delays or challenges to the Sample Room Manager or Production Lead in a timely manner. Requirements Minimum 4 years of experience working as a sewer, preferably in a fashion or apparel company, with a focus on sample making.Experience with a variety of sewing machines, including industrial machines, and hand-finishing techniques.Strong understanding of garment construction, fitting, and alterations.Ability to work with different fabrics and materials, from knits to wovens, and execute complex sewing tasks.Ability to read and follow technical specifications, patterns, and garment sketches.Familiarity with various sewing techniques, including topstitching, hemming, and trimming.Excellent attention to detail and precision in work.Strong problem-solving skills, particularly in garment fitting and construction.Ability to sit for long periods while working on sewing machines.Dexterity and good hand-eye coordination for sewing and finishing tasks.Must be able to lift, bend, and move materials or finished garments as required. Hybrid Work Schedule 5 days a week in the office New York Pay Rate $42,000.00 - $55,000.00 We strive to hire and nurture amazing talent.
