UC San Diego Health has held its Magnet status since 2011.The Critical Care Transport (CCT) RN is an expert clinician in the nursing care off the adult ICU, IMU, and telemetry patient during the transport process. The CCT RN assesses, monitors, and intervenes when deemed necessary during transport. The CCT RN assumes clinical decision-making responsibilities, based on an in-depth assessment of the patient's needs.The CCT RN provides leadership by collaborating with colleagues and other healthcare professionals to provide best patient outcomes. As an expert nurse, the CCT RN uses evidence-based knowledge and best practice to critically think and identify if patient is able to safely tolerate transport.Key Responsibilities: Transports adult patients who are 1:2 ratio in the ICU, and non-ICU monitored patients, to imaging locations/procedural areas. Involves transporters, staff, and other healthcare team members in the development of a plan to execute transports in a safe and timely manner.Utilizes knowledge, skills, and critical thinking to efficiently focus on the most significant patient clinical needs relevant to transport. Maintain all competencies and required training to deliver best patient outcomes. Promotes a climate of effective teamwork, communication and collaboration. Consults with nurse leaders and educators on developing strategies for performance improvement. Communicates regularly with staff on pertinent operational issues regarding transport. Promotes a positive patient experience.While not required, a cover letter is highly recommended when applying to this position.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Must be a graduate from an accredited school of nursing.

Registered Nurse (RN) license issued by the State of California.

BLS/CPR and ACLS certifications at time of hire with commitment to get ART within six (6) months of hire date.

A minimum two (2) years of recent inpatient acute care adult ICU RN experience.

Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills to manage multiple levels of information and responsibilities, and to quickly assess moderately-complex problems to develop potential solutions.

Must have the ability to function in a high-paced environment and must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

BSN/MSNCurrent critical care inter-facility transfer experience.CEN, CCRN, TNCC, and/or BTLS/PHTLS Certifications.Current Cardiovascular/Cardiothoracic/Surgical/Trauma RN experience in a large acute care hospital.SPECIAL CONDITIONS

Must be able to work various hours, days, shifts, on-call and locations based on the 24-hour Medical Center's business needs.Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.Selected candidate may be hired at the CNIII level pending review and approval by the Nurse Executive Council.Pay Transparency ActAnnual Full Pay Range: $123,902 - $173,659 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)Hourly Equivalent: $59.34 - $83.17Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).If employed by the University of California, you will be required to comply with our Policy on Vaccination Programs, which may be amended or revised from time to time. Federal, state, or local public health directives may impose additional requirements.

If applicable, life-support certifications (BLS, NRP, ACLS, etc.) must include hands-on practice and in-person skills assessment; online-only certification is not acceptable.
