Department Summary The Flexible Housing Subsidy Pool (FHSP) is a supportive housing rental subsidy program of the Los Angeles County Department of Health Services (DHS), along with other governmental partners, managed-care organizations, and foundations. The goal of the FHSP is to secure quality affordable housing for extremely vulnerable Angelenos. Brilliant Corners, the central coordinating community-based partner for FHSP, works to secure a broad range of housing options, including individual apartments, blocks of units, and entire buildings. Brilliant Corners identifies and secures units Countywide, provides move-in assistance and rental subsidy disbursements, coordinates with case managers, and assists with neighborhood relations. Position Summary The Occupancy Specialist position plays a key role as a member of the growing FHSP Housing Department. This position manages matching units from the housing portfolio to participants of the Flexible Housing Subsidy Pool (FHSP) Program and ensures program participants are presented with appropriate housing options that match their unique needs. The Occupancy Specialist manages a dynamic portfolio of housing units across Los Angeles County in accordance with specific program objectives. The Occupancy Specialist will maintain unit listing websites with available unit portfolio details and initiate unit viewing process for interested tenants. The Occupancy Specialist will closely track outcomes of the unit matching process and unit listings websites, and use reporting to show trends, successes, and areas for process improvement. The Occupancy Specialist should be a strong communicator, a strategic thinker, a quick learner, and a systems-oriented team player. The Occupancy Specialist works closely with the rest of the Housing Utilization team, Housing Acquisitions team, Tenancy Support Services team, and Data & Technology team to fulfill their responsibilities. Position Responsibilities Update and maintain unit listing websites by ensuring accurate advertisement of available unit portfolio. Screen for eligible applicants, and initiate the coordination of unit viewings. Utilize FHSP databases and trackers to match participants with appropriate housing units from within the FHSP housing portfolio. Match participants to units in a manner that minimizes the time participants spend unhoused, minimizes time units stay vacant, and increases utilization of the unit portfolio. Produce regular reports on unit matching outcomes in order to inform Housing Acquisition strategies and program operations. Coordinate with the Housing Acquisitions team to keep the housing portfolio up to date in Salesforce. Maintain sufficient knowledge of all FHSP sub-programs to provide FHSP participants with appropriate housing options. Onboard and train newly hired FHSP program staff on unit matching workflows. Communicate routinely with stakeholders to provide FHSP participants with continuous support. Participate in and be a thought partner for ongoing initiatives for the FHSP Housing Department to maximize utilization of unit portfolio. Other duties as assigned. Physical Requirements Candidates should have physical mobility for tasks such as standing, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, twisting, and walking on uneven surfaces. They should be capable of performing stationary tasks like sitting for up to 6 to 8 hours a day. Additionally, candidates should be able to lift, carry, push, pull light to moderate weights up to 15 pounds safely. Requires mental acuity for analytical reasoning and document interpretation. Salary range for this position is $25 - $25.24 annually.
