ComPAS BI supports the Amazon Device Accessories and Companion Products Business (Amazon Smart Plug, Fire TV Soundbar, Star Wars Accessories, and more) and the Pre-Owned Devices and Device Trade-In program. These businesses are some of the fastest-growing businesses in Amazon Devices, in no small part due to ComPAS leadership's continued investment in technology. The ComPAS BI team is looking for a visionary Business Intelligence Engineer who will help set the course for the future of data and analytics in ComPAS. This role has wide scope from the start and huge opportunity to grow both technical and leadership skills.
Key job responsibilities
Own the end-to-end project management and execution of our most important reporting and analytics projects, many of which have direct impact on our end customers and drive real growth in the ComPAS business.Own, experiment with, and iterate on key mechanisms (roadmap planning, project management, intake and workflow, etc.) that enable us to deliver great results for our stakeholders through thoughtful organization and communication.Be the example for ComPAS BI team members of what delivering at the Sr. BIE level looks like, and provide mentorship and coaching to grow your team members to deliver results at the same level.Create a vision for what our BIE function should look like when operating as a best-in-class organization by learning and applying the latest techniques and technologies, defining and refining BIE best practices, and sharing your knowledge with the team.
A day in the lifeOur team members aim to spend their time in this way:
50% Roadmap project work, with each team member working on one large project at a time.10% On call, with our on-call team member handling any urgent requests or data issues that our stakeholders bring to us.10% Ad-hoc requests, with ad-hoc being any non-urgent request that takes less than two days to complete.10% Keep-the-lights-on (KTLO) tasks including supporting regular business reviews and recurring reporting maintenance.10% Meetings, events, and mechanisms.10% Exploration, learning, and new skills development.For our Sr. BIE, this allocation will be slightly different. This new team member will spend less time on Ad-hoc and KTLO and more time on leadership work (learning, mentoring, vision setting, and influencing).
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS8+ years of professional or military experience.5+ years of SQL experience.Experience programming to extract, transform and clean large (multi-TB) data sets.Experience with theory and practice of design of experiments and statistical analysis of results.Experience with AWS technologies.Experience in scripting for automation (e.g. Python) and advanced SQL skills.Experience with theory and practice of information retrieval, data science, machine learning and data mining.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSExperience working directly with business stakeholders to translate between data and business needs.Experience managing, analyzing and communicating results to senior leadership.

Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
